This church was quite a welcoming! Great congregation, I felt like I was comming back home when I stepped in the doors. There is a concentration on community out reach, fun events, and a place you can always feel welcome!
I have been the Program Director of Oak Lane Presbyterian Church’s Before/Aftercare and Summer Camp program (OLASP) since the 2018-19 school year, and it has been an absolute pleasure. What’s unique about this program is that it’s is a small family that includes the whole community. I haven’t seen this type of what I like to call “Community Love” since I was a little girl. That “Community Love” where you didn’t realize you was poor until you were grown because the whole community was your family and took care of you. A unique interconnected never ending family beginning at home that continues in school where majority of the teachers loved teaching, but most importantly they cared about their Pupils. Every in the neighborhood, was like at least cousins(lol) even the neighborhood butcher who I now know used to let families get food on credit to make it through the month. The “Community Love” I experience at OLASP is the same and every one from the OLASP Board and Members of the Church, the Oak Lane Librarians, the Oak Lane Firefighters, Elwood Elementary Staff, the Neighbors, and and most importantly the Families of the wonderful children we are entrusted to work with everyday. They love and are invested in the overall development of there children and go above and beyond to support us in giving their children the best care we can. Basically this is my super big shot out to my new Oak Lane Family, for showing some “Community Love. 😍🥰😘🤗 I love y’all back.
Great Jazz shows on third Thursday of each month. Presbyterian Churches have the best community involvement and this one falls into this category hands down.
