What Parents Say
Nurturing Nest Montessori receives mixed reviews. Most reviewers praise the Montessori philosophy, teacher quality, and director Ms. Sabrina's passion. However, several parents report serious concerns including inadequate bullying response, unreported incidents, poor hygiene standards, and unwelcoming administrative behavior.
Nurturing Nest is one of the best Montessori School I have visited! I am doing my Montessori training right now and I received a lot of support from the school even though I am not doing my internship there and I am so thankful for that! It is a beautiful environment for children and all the teachers are amazing! The director, Ms. Sabrina is so supportive and passionate about Montessori Philosophy!
I heard very good review from one of my neighbor so I enrolled my son to NNMS in infant program. Initially I am very impressed with them and thinking that I made right decision. However, I got back to me very hard. After one of teacher left, their services are degraded. On two different occasions my son had an incident that was not reported to us: one day he came home with a bloody nose and two scratches on his face and one day he was sent home with a fever. Both times, the school failed to let me know prior to pick up, failed to write it down in an incident report and even denied anything happened at school. They keep my son in very unhygienic state. They didn't clean him properly. My son was neglected so I raise the issue but no avail. So I gave them withdrawal notice and they told me that they will charge one extra month fee as per signed contract. I am financial stress so I an not able to do that. I wanted my son to withdrew early because NNMS failed to provide the service that NNMS promised, NNMS's negligence and NNMS keep my child in an unhygienic state. But there is no avail and I have to sent child with mental and emotional stress as I an not able to handle financial stress. I very disappointed with NNMS, I would not recommend and advise to stay away from NNMS to keep your child safe.
Not so nurturing. Sent me away at the door. I had a 10:30 tour and got lost because there is no signage outside. In fairness, I arrived a little after 11. While I do respect others time I didn't get a feeling like I was interrupting, I honestly just felt unwelcome. I understand having to reschedule but that's not what she tried to do, she wanted us gone. She didn't even ask for me to reschedule! Montessori should be a diverse environment where everyone feels welcome. I'm just one person but who knows if there have been others. The teachers however did smile and said they didn't mind an impromptu visit. For the record that was my experience. It saddens me to my core when visiting schools the lack of smiles and warm greetings.
I have been a fan of montessori and had really loved this school. I felt that my child was progressing for the first two years. However, things soured this year, when the school administration and teacher refused to address the bullying problem and acted like it doesn't exist. There were multiple incidents with the bully and the school believed that he was doing better and therefore no need to change anything. Other parents who complained were given a dismissive response of "we'll look into it." My child was refusing to go to school and there was nothing done to help him adjust to returning, none of my suggestions (have a teacher talk privately to my son and reassure him he is safe, have a teacher facilitate a conversation between the students, etc.) were taken seriously. It didn't help that the bully has a parent who works at the school. There is no policy in place to deal with bullying and while I could have taken this issue to the MD state school board, it was better to remove my child from a bad environment and transfer to his local public school, which is highly rated, where he is thriving and happy again.
My daughter has been attending this school since age 1 and she is now in Kindergarten. Yes, we chose to pay for Kindergarten even though we are assigned to an excellent public school -- Pointers Run Elementary in Clarksville MD. This shows how impressed we are with care and education our daughter received at the Nest. Teachers are extremely professional, educated and attentive. The head of the school is so great with kids, sometimes it feels like magic. I highly recommend this school!
