I have loved being a part of this church for the past 4 years! It is such a welcoming and supportive community, where everyone can be authentically themselves, no matter their identity or background. I especially appreciate NHU’s commitment to caring for the children in the congregation and for consistent outreach in the neighborhood. Also 10/10 recommend for anyone who has struggled with reconciling their faith after leaving evangelical spaces.
Amazingly welcoming and low-pressure church environment for people looking for a community who is trying to follow Jesus together toward justice. This church really cares about its neighbors locally and across the county with hands-on opportunities to help without any ego involved. Love this place.
1st "In-House" service today! June 20th, with post Church June Teenth recognition! Sometimes service in Park across street, or hosting of bands in sanctuary for Adams Ave Music Festivals. One block south of Adams Ave,& west of Library. On bus route(s). I discovered this wonderful church just a few years ago. I immediately felt the warmth. The love. When they say they are “actively welcoming” they actually mean it. It wasn’t just something they said, it was what they did. Actively. I loved looking around during the service. Every age and gender were there. All were welcome. Ahhh. I found my peeps.
Incredible church!! Queer affirming and teachings rooted in the Bible. Spectacular, loving and engaged community. My wife and I were able to restore our faith thanks to the great community and teachings here.
