What Parents Say
Niles Community Schools Preschool receives mostly positive feedback about caring staff and a safe learning environment. However, two detailed negative reviews raise serious concerns about school bus transportation safety, including bullying incidents, driver responsiveness, and inconsistent pickup reliability.
The Niles School Corporation has encountered significant challenges regarding transportation safety for elementary students. Reports indicate that some young children experience bullying on school buses, raising concerns among parents and guardians. When these incidents are brought to the attention of school officials, the response often indicates a lack of actionable measures, citing that the events did not occur on school property. This raises an important question regarding the responsibility for student safety during transportation. Incidents have been reported where younger students, such as first graders, face bullying from older students, including serious situations where physical harm is inflicted. To address these issues effectively, the school corporation may want to consider implementing bus monitors. These monitors could be strategically placed throughout the bus—at the front, middle, and back—to maintain supervision and ensure the safety of all students. While the school promotes anti-bullying policies, the need for proactive measures on vehicles is crucial to ensure that younger students feel secure during their commute. Enhanced monitoring could play a vital role in safeguarding the well-being of all students on school buses. And teachers, but as far as administrations go, they don’t back up what they say. They’re still letting bullying go on the bus. What’s transportation gonna do? I am tired of hearing how these little kids keep getting beat up on the same bus and we try to talk to the driver. He stares at you like you’re stupid or don't understand We need more safety for our young kids and make the anti-bullying for buses as well.
This place is a joke. they blame the weather for there drivers incompetence that's no excuse why kids don't get picked up for school. If a parent were to fail getting a child to school they could be held responsible. So now that the transportation office wants to be negligent they will be held responsible.
