What Parents Say
Parents praise the New Rochelle YMCA's swim instructors, particularly Marcelo, for delivering exceptional results with both children and adults. Reviews highlight personalized instruction, professional expertise, and a caring approach that helps students overcome fears and achieve measurable progress. The facility itself is described as clean, well-maintained, and staffed by friendly, dedicated employees.
My and wife and I had a pickleball lesson with Marcelo and we thoroughly enjoyed it! Marcelo was a very direct and no nonsense teacher with a touch of kindness which is exactly what we wanted. This was our first time playing pickleball and we want to continue after this experience! Thanks to the YMCA for the great facility!
We joined the Y recently and our two boys are having private swim lessons w Marcelo. After just 3 lessons, their form, breathing technique, and endurance have vastly improved. He is fixing a lot of their bad habits that they got at another swim place. So happy we found Marcelo!!!
My daughter and son, both 3 or under, both take private swim lessons with Marcelo. He has been doing this for 35+ years. This is clear because: 1/ he is focused on outcomes, like getting your kid to actually swim unaided; 2/ he tailors his style to each kid. We previously went to Goldfish public lessons, which were ok but not as personalized or outcomes focused. Thank you, Marcelo and the YMCA folks!
Coach Megan is fantastic! I'm "of a certain age," never learned to swim and was scared to go past where I could stand. Coach Megan is incredibly patient, knowledgeable, creative, and most of all she cares deeply for those she is working with. I went from being terrified on day one to being able to tread water in the deep end and stay relaxed, and swim laps unassisted, with ease and confidence after 4 or 5 sessions! I love swimming now! I highly recommend Coach Megan!
This gym is a good place to go and get a relaxing time in the sauna i guess because is about the only thing nice in the facility, other than that everything is over crowded, the staff are super rude, the aquatic department is a piece of garbage theres no management, they do what ever they like wit the pool schedule no control or order i think the schedule is picked by the life guards witch are like 18 years of age each. I belive the gym should have more structure and order as far as schedules and educated employees goes, the schedule ses there is a adult lap swim when you try the time is another story is packed wit minors running around talking about they doing training excuse me i wasnt told when i sighn up this pool was goin to be used from 6 pm til closing only to teach kids how to swim as an adult i work all day and the sauna and steam room and at least a hour swim is part of the reason why i sign up to the gym not to watch kids swim for so many hours kids should have a sutable kids schedule like 4 to 5 the rest should be adults is unfair not nice everyone wants to swim and the staff needs to button up i had a couple of them grill me as if i stold something from them weird place to be considering the area i dint expect this im very confused i think the place should rehire new staff and fix they schedules to affective times and more senceable maneging is rediculous the amount of hours these kids swim adults go tk the gym too or did the ymca forget ?
