Church Visit Review (Respectful and Honest Reflection) While visiting relatives, I was invited to attend your church, and I gladly agreed. I was hoping to gain a new perspective on the Gospel from another pastor, different from my own. I hadn’t brought my Bible with me, but I had one on my smartphone and expected it to be charged and ready for the next morning. Unfortunately, my charger had failed, and I was left with a dead phone. Still, I thought, “I’m going to church—surely they’ll have a Bible I can borrow.” When I arrived, I met my relatives and sat down. I asked if there was a Bible I could borrow for the service—any version (NIV, KJV, or NKJV) would have been fine. My sister, Vicki Mosier, replied, “Don’t you have a Bible on your phone? I have one on mine.” I explained that my phone was dead and asked again if I could borrow one. She chuckled and said, “You won’t need one.” That response surprised me, and I quietly thought, I hope this isn’t how new guests are treated when they ask for a Bible. Then the worship team began to play. The music was very loud—so loud that I could barely hear the congregation singing. I know God could hear every heart lifted in praise, but I personally found it difficult to enter into worship because of the volume. I couldn’t help thinking how powerful it might have been if, even for a moment, the congregation sang a cappella—voices joined together without instruments. That would have been beautiful to experience. One young woman on stage appeared very enthusiastic, but when her image appeared on the screen, she seemed nervous—her expression didn’t match her energy. Perhaps she was just anxious in front of the crowd. In contrast, the woman second from the left seemed completely genuine—her worship felt sincere and heartfelt despite the elevated volume. The music lasted about 42 minutes, and at times it was hard to understand the lyrics. I began to wonder how much time would remain for the sermon. That day, a guest pastor—Jack, a retired pastor from New Life Church—was preaching. I looked forward to hearing a message drawn deeply from Scripture. However, I noticed he didn’t bring a Bible, instead using a folder with sermon notes. He read briefly from Matthew about Jesus walking on water, although the screen at the start of the service had referenced the Gospel of Luke. His message included bits of Scripture but focused largely on personal stories—one about his wife bungee jumping and another about being chased by a dog. The tone felt more like a comedy routine than a sermon. The message lasted about 27 minutes, and if you removed the humor and anecdotes, there were perhaps 15 minutes of actual Scripture-based teaching. It was also difficult for me to validate what was being shared without a Bible in hand—especially since the pastor didn’t have one either. That realization unsettled me. When the invitation was given—“Come to the altar if you have anxiety, and we’ll pray for you”—I couldn’t help but think, I actually do feel anxious now. I understand this might come across as overly critical or judgmental, but that is not my intent. I am a believer in Christ—He is my Lord and Savior, not only because I believe in Him but because His Spirit dwells within me. Sometimes God allows us to see things clearly so we can discern what’s truly happening around us. I left feeling disappointed. I had hoped to hear the Word of God taught with depth and reverence. Christ said that people will disappoint us, and perhaps this was one of those moments. Still, I left praying that God continues to bless your congregation and that future messages and worship will draw others closer to Him through Scripture and truth. Acts 17:11 11 Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.
Absolutely love it here at New Life! All the pastors are awesome! This is the one church I have been to that is so true to our tag line. “We are more than a church, we are family!”
pastor Todd 🙏 In the beginning pastor Todd was very caring and dedicated to Christian values! Seems like after the church both his exercise bike and weight loss plan; his sermons are all about constant begging for millions of dollars 💰 💵 for donations and tithing during the sermon. I love the multi talented singers and 🎵 🎶 musicians! Watch online and love the spiritual music 🎵 🎶 worship. I love to watch when guest pastors and missionary church people visit and share their stories!!!!!
