What Parents Say
New England Preschool Academy has received uniformly negative reviews with a 1/5 rating across all recent submissions. Parents consistently report inadequate supervision, aggressive staff behavior toward children, poor management practices, and billing issues. The facility appears to prioritize revenue over child welfare and safety.
Very expensive for the quality of care provided. The children hardly ever go outside and rarely is the indoor space changed or new toys introduced. Most of the teachers seem unhappy and punitive towards the children. When checking the cameras, I hardly ever saw the teachers engaging with the children in play or activities. Children are shuffled around to different rooms depending on staffing (sometimes in developmentally inappropriate rooms). My child attended part-time for about a year and a half as an infant/toddler and the most prominent behavior that was instilled: to yell at her dolls from across the room to “STOP IT!” and to “SIT. DOWN!” Pretty heartbreaking to witness considering these are her first experiences on this earth. Another red flag was when my child came home with adult fingernail marks in her arm (broken skin) - no incident report - and when I asked the Director about this, she said she would look into it, but she never did. I desperately needed childcare at the time, but I wish I had made a different choice. We are in a MUCH better facility now, attending more days at almost the same rate. I would not recommend this place. Best of luck to you!
My son attended NEPA for 6 months. They have cameras where you can watch your child all day, which I most certainly did. His first day, the “teacher” tossed him onto his cot, it was his first time ever sleeping on a cot, she threw her hands up in the air in frustration. HIS FIRST DAY. He kept getting out and she would aggressively put him back. I called and thank goodness they have Lori because I think she’s the only sane one there. I was told the teacher would be spoken to, which I truly believed they meant. After that incident, my son was bit by another child. Apparently they don’t call the parents unless there’s blood? Okay. Seemed to be no urgency that it happened and when I asked why no one called, they told me, well law states if there’s no blood we don’t have to call. New to this since I’m a FTM. Over time, I’d watch my son play with the saaaaame toy day in and day out for the hours he was there. The director, Cathy, who I was hoping to be a pleasure to deal with, is and was not. She stated we owed her 2 weeks of care and even after printing out my bank statements showing we were current, she tried taking another weeks payment even after I removed my son. I had to put a stop payment on the charge because it was not accurate. I’ve asked her now 4 times for the 2244 form for my taxes, I got an extension and she refuses to email or answer me. It’s been 4 weeks. Unfortunately, Cathy is terrible with paperwork and seems like she needs an assistance. Without Lori, that place would not run and I will never refer anyone to bring their child here.
Please don’t send your children here. Pure neglect. They “act” like they care. Kathy is by far the worst of them all. She only cares about money not children or families. They don’t change kids diapers. You kid will get blamed for having a rash. They have no patience. They truly have their own way of abusing not only the system but the family and children. She will gladly dismiss you from the facility, reiterating that she is the ONLY accessible daycare in Windsor Locks. It’s a shame to know she’s in Enfield as well. Please find a better place to care for your precious kids. They will not. Even with the MUTED video system they have blind spots. Also kids nap from 12-3pm A VERY FORCEFUL LONG NAP so by the time they wake up it’s time to go home. This place is absolutely HORRIFIC AND TERRIBLE.
My children have been going to this preschool for just over 2 1/2 years. The Director is money hungry, lends an ear the the “ideal” families and I would go as far as saying she is borderline racist. There was an instance where she playfully called my Black child “A silly monkey”, perhaps it was a “pet” name, but that isn’t okay, I spoke to her about it. She also had only two Black staffers in the past 2 1/2 years; sounds like a quota. Its also very obvious how she treats her “favorites”, oppose to the “other” parents. She pays her staff minimum wage, and a revolving door of staff. My daughter comes home past dirty, she comes home disgusting because of a sand and dirt section the kids play in after sunscreen is applied
It is very unprofessional place, and they only care about getting paid every week and always calculating the wrong amount of money to be paid. The staff members are very aggressive with the children. I would not recommend this daycare to anyone.
