Had an amazing experience here with Gail , Jake and Robin!! They were helpful and understanding through my whole process of starting a membership here. Terrible swim culture at this Y. I showed up to the pool at 6:45 to swim and was flat out told by other swimmers that they would not split a lane with me. On the lap times printout they hand out and their website it says that swimmers are supposed to be 3 to a lane if there aren’t enough lanes. I feel that it is misrepresentation to have this policy on the Y’s marketing materials and not enforce it because it severely limits the capacity of the pool for lap swimming. There are only 4 lanes open in the morning. For only 8 people to swim laps at a time is completely ridiculous in a gym this size. I spoke to a friend who is also a member who has had the same issue of people refusing to split lanes. The lifeguard just sits there and does not intervene. I joined this gym to use the pool. If I can’t use the pool, there are plenty of less expensive gyms in the area where I can go. I don’t wake up at 6:00 to get to the gym and watch other people exercise. You need to do something to address your terrible swim culture here because this is not something I have experienced at other Ys and gyms where I have swam.
Great place to do cardio. But if you’re serious about bodybuilding then skip this one. Everything is too close, I was trying to do leg extensions and had to stop mid set to let people pass by, the fluorescent lighting kills your mood. Feels like being inside a school basement. The pool is nice and the classes are cool if you’re into it. Honestly the staff is really really good and look Ike they enjoy working there and everyone in the gym is cool. But if you’re the kinda of person who wants to absolutely kill your workout the vibe just isn’t there.
Wish it was more accessible for people with mobility issues, cane, walkers and wheelchairs. The entrance for wheelchairs is always locked and that side has an elevator, only access is the main entrance, which has stairs and no elevator which makes it inconvenient for someone with mobility issues.
Lots of young kids and I'm sure some aren't even over 18 using the over 18+ gym.
