We went to the ER because my toddler got nursemaids elbow while we were playing. We were immediately taken to a room and did not have to wait at all. The doctor fixed it in 5 seconds, and he even gave her a baby doll toy set as a little treat for being brave that my daughter won’t put down. The hospital was clean, beautiful, and they even have a rainbow light bridge you get to walk through. It was evident these amazing healthcare workers love children. I cannot recommend this ER enough. THANK YOU!
Children’s of Alabama pediatric imaging department is deplorable. Patient relations is honest to god no help either. We checked in and were told to arrive 1 hour prior to my 7 month olds CT scan. We were not doing sedation so we were told during that hour we would have the baby take Tylenol and drink a bottle to prepare for the scan- that way she would be napping and still. Instead we were taken back early, told by the front desk to take the safety reconciliation form with us that listed all medication (such as Tylenol) taken before the scan that the technicians would review, and not one person looked at the forms or let us give her a bottle or Tylenol. Instead we were rushed back with no explanation no responses to my questions about the Tylenol or what’s going on. Just put on the vest and hold your daughter’s legs. Even when I questioned the technician on why are we doing this because now she’s in distress they ignored me and said you can go now we’re done. The technician pressed hard on my child’s head and after she was unstrapped she started twitching and jerking horribly. We got the hell out of that room and immediately gave her a bottle and tried to figure out what just happened. I talked to the front desk asking why that happened the way it did and why they denied us any responses other than hold her legs down. They gave me patient relations number and the representative from patient relations I got reassured me I would be called back to explain “why I felt that way” since they don’t have medical procedure knowledge. I asked why I was denied informed consent and ushered in like that? Why did we force that on a 7 month old when the parents were uncomfortable and wanted to calm their child like discussed? She just got released from physical therapy for a pinched nerve from birth and I’m concerned with the force they had on her she may need to go back. I’m not hopeful for their internal investigation after being talked to like that from a representative. Medical malpractice complaints are here and being covered up. Read the reviews.
I was so very impressed with the attentiveness and care that my 10-day old infant received back in June of this year. Everyone was absolutely wonderful! The nurses, doctors, dietary, housekeeping, literally everyone we came in contact with went above and beyond for us and were so very kind. We have never received such thorough, compassionate care elsewhere. Our child was in the very best hands. Just a few mentions: Dr. Imbrock, Dr. Kirkwood, Dr. Myrick (I believe), 7th floor special care unit nurses Aniyah, Kinsey, Faith (and others). I am so sorry for those that I cannot remember by name, but just know you all are angels on earth! Thank you for the wonderful care you provided to my family.
I generously gave two stars because the ER triage team was somewhat efficient. I brought my three year old toddler to the ER at 4:38am. He has a known history of asthma and was experiencing symptoms of an attack. At 4:38a when I walked into the ED it was 4 other patients waiting. At 6:44a when I decided to try to find help someone else for my child, those same 4 patients (plus the 8 other patients that came in after me) were still in the waiting room! Is this what you all are trained to do COA, have patients and their families wait it out so they can either leave and try to find care somewhere else for their child or make them irate for the lack of empathy you all show towards their children, then kick them out for rude behavior? I wish it was more free standing children hospitals in Alabama!!!
Everything was great besides being there all night and never getting admitted after being told we would. Got discharged at 3am and before I left I asked one of the nurses to watch my toddler while I ran to the bathroom and she said yes I will then as soon as I got into the bathroom she left the room! Just left my sleeping 1 year old on the bed after me asking her to sit with him for literally 5 mins so I could go to the bathroom. Then acted like it was a problem to help me carry the car seat down to the waiting room. I am 31 weeks pregnant and couldn’t carry my child the bag and his car seat. She made a different nurse help instead of taking 5 mins to help me. That’s after me hitting the call button and not one person came to check on us.
