⚠️ Parents, please be warned. ⚠️ This church is affiliated with Macomb County Head Start parents, please read. I enrolled my child at Macomb Community Action Head Start and provided all legal custody documentation, including the Acknowledgment of Parentage (AOP) which gives me sole custody under Michigan law. Staff refused to honor this legal document, told me their “hands were tied,” and insisted on extra paperwork that is NOT required by law. This put my child at serious risk of being released to an unauthorized person. I had to remove my child from the program immediately to keep her safe. If they treated me this way, how many other parents have they told the same? I strongly urge families to refrain from sending your child here until a full investigation is completed. Children’s safety and parents’ rights should never be ignored.
Growing up attending this beautiful church in 1969 ( I was 5) until I was married in 1986. Had my sisters funerals there. This church will always be #1 in my heart! My mother went there much longer before me and my father (after retirement) was a janitor for a while. ❤️
Awesome place. Never any long lines. You just fill out a paper and they bring it to you in a shopping cart. It doesn't get much easier than that. Awesome staff also.
My grandparents have been members of this church since the mid 1950s. There 3 children were raised in this church and most of there children were raised in this church. I was one of them. 43yrs ago this month I was baptized here. In those 43yrs our family has had wedding, baptisms, funerals, and other family get together here. I have been around to see 3 pastor retire from here. The one I remember the most was Pastor Rodgers. Pastor Rodgers help our family so much. When my mother was dieing he was there with us every step of the way. From doing the service at the funeral home to the service at the church even before she passed he would come to the house sit with us and just pray. My grandmother had to be hospitalized for emergency surgery he was there. Great guy Pastor Rodgers is, it was sad to see he had retired. One of the best that I can remember being there in my 43yrs. Linda is doing a great job as well, but I can say I don't attend church services anymore like I used too. Overall this church has done so much good for the community. Here is the down fall all the original members are dieing off due to old age. There is maybe a handful of younger people, but what bothers me the most is after all the good they do for the community and families that come to them for help or that send there kids to school here, none of them people seem to want to be a part of the Church. One family I know would come just to eat food when they had free hot meals, dinner or breakfast, but to become a member no way. Now that is just rude. That's what I don't get they're good enough to help you out, but not good enough to attend church services. This place needs more younger folks to support them before there is no more original members left and they have to close the doors. That would be a shame. I am not a spring chicken anymore and can't do much for myself so I have to count myself out. Sooo if any one reads this and is looking for a place to call home at the best church I have ever known, please choose Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. It doesn't matter if your brown, white, purple, yellow, green, or blue. Shapes and sizes don't matter either. Even if your not that religion. THEY WILL LOVE TO HAVE YOU! Thanks for taken the time to read this.... Stacy Conroy
