Moultrie Montessori School

We have had one or both of our children at Moultrie Montessori for the last 3 years. As previous reviewers have mentioned, this school and all the teachers are amazing. MIss Jeannie, with her many years of Montessori experience, has an intuitive insight into each child's specific and individual needs. This is not an education based on rote memorization, but rather one that nurtures and develops the entire child, eliciting an intrinsic love of learning and of self. The classroom is designed to allow movement and collaboration, as it also promotes concentration and a sense of order. We love the multi-age classroom where students encourage and support each other, truly creating a cooperative community. Our children have thrived in this setting and we feel very fortunate to be part of this very special school.

Moultrie Montessori is a nice daycare, but it is not really a school. It is run by a gentle older woman with a Montessori background, who is great at discipline but really isn't academically centered any longer. If you are looking for a peaceful daycare setting, its wonderful. But do not expect your child to graduate from here prepared for Kindergarten as he or she will likely not be, and efforts with the director to prepare the child appropriately for K will not be met agreeably. My child was very unprepared and as it turns out other parents have experienced the same thing, which is what has prompted me to write this review. It appears one or two of the oldest children at a time do get some good academic guidance, but generally the majority of children are not learning even the basics of what is necessary to prepare for K, which is a shame because the school is a very nice environment. It's a good choice if you are willing and able to home school the academics and use Moultrie Montessori as an alternative to the rowdy day cares in town.

Our child is enrolled at MMS and we are very happy with the educational method and the peaceful environment.
