What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise the Mid-America Science Museum as an excellent family destination with engaging, hands-on exhibits suitable for a wide age range. The Tesla coil show and digital dome theater are frequently highlighted as standout attractions. Staff are noted as friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
My wife, 2-year-old daughter and I went here for Valentine’s Day and had so much fun! Everything was hands-on but clean and organized, the exhibits were fascinating with lots to do for people of all ages, and the planetarium event was just as cool as I remembered from when I was a kid. There was one exhibit with a gear pulley system with large rubber bands that my daughter curiously went up to and grabbed right behind me, and she accidentally caught her pinky finger in a gear. Luckily, she was fine with just a big scratch, but Raven (one of the museum helpers) brought us some bandaids while we were outside in the rain calming our baby down, and she was so sweet! Thank you Raven!
In town from Austin. We've got our own science / children's museums of course and the Mid-America Science Museum puts ours to shame. One of the best I've ever taken the kids to. Fantastic blend of interactive exhibits and outdoor areas. We opted to do the Tesla coil experience and it was well worth it; our 2- and 4-year olds weren't super engaged with the learning part but even they loved when the coil itself was turned on. If you're in Hot Springs with kids (even teenagers would enjoy it if they "have" to tag along with younger siblings), you really should try and make it.
My kid enjoyed it a lot and didn’t want to leave; he cried, "I don't wanna go home, I want to play more :)" Honestly, we also had a great time. Especially the Tesla Show was really awesome. I recommend not missing both shows; you might learn something new, I can promise :)
Great place to take the family and enjoy the day. There's plenty to see and learn inside and outside the main building. My favorite thing to see was the famous Tesla coil. The digital dome theater was also fun. If you come in early enough during the week you can go through the exhibits without too many people. If you're from out of town I would recommend a visit here with the family.
Our son loved this place. Not as much tech as some but the indoor outdoor combination was wonderful and unique. The giant dinosaurs were awesome. They are also a reciprocal member of ACTS.
