What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise the YMCA facility, staff friendliness, and diverse programs for families. Most reviews reflect positive experiences with gym equipment, classes, and activities. Some parents noted organizational issues in specific programs and minor facility inconsistencies.
I’m frustrated with the direction this branch has taken. Membership is pricey for what you get, and the culture in shared spaces feels increasingly unwelcoming. A subset of long-time members treat the locker room like their territory and will confront/report others over minor things, which creates a tense, complaint-driven environment. I understand privacy rules (no filming/photos), but the current “police each other” dynamic—combined with strict signage and inconsistent enforcement—makes it feel less like a community nonprofit and more like an exclusive, rule-heavy club. I’d love to see staff-led, consistent enforcement focused on respect and welcoming everyone, rather than empowering member-to-member bullying.
This gym doesn't care about making things better for families. The family locker room is disgusting. The policies for group classes are inflexible. There isn't enough equipment and they close off sections of the gym at the worst hours. The swim lessons for kids is unorganized. Depending on the swim instructor they might pass your child onto the next level and then the next instructor will move them back down. Even though there is a sheet marking their accomplishments its just a paper you take home and theres no student profile to tell instructors what they have done, have not, weaknesses and strengths so its just blinding throwing darts at a dart board. The only redeeming qualities about the gym is the people who work in the child watch are amazing. Some of the paid programs (like camps) for kids are also nice and can have kind directors.
The membership team is great. The fitness center is a mess. The teens run the building, and the manager repeatedly belittles staff and members. I’ve witnessed her yelling across the floor, calling people out, and making the gym uncomfortable for everyone. It’s no surprise this department can’t keep employees. After seeing this repeatedly, I’ll be taking my workouts elsewhere.
I've been going to this Y since I was a kid and I have nothing but great things to say about the facility and the staff. I recommend this place to everyone. Friendly staff, nice equipment, and awesome classes
Great family Y. Good instructors. My extended family members have been happy here for years, especially with the pool and swim teachers for the kids.
