Methodist Preschool

When my son was three years old, he attended this preschool two days a week for 6 months. He had never been in any type of school setting before, and since he is an only child, he had limited experience being around other children his age. As a single mom, I made sure to let the school know this ahead of time so they would understand where he was coming from. About two weeks after he started, his teacher, Mrs. Coffing, messaged me asking if my son had ever been in occupational therapy. I was caught completely off guard, especially receiving a message like this so soon. She continued to send me messages and eventually suggested that my son should be evaluated for autism. Mrs. Coffing also began sending me videos of my son where she repeatedly singled him out, giving him tasks over and over without offering any help or support. On another occasion, she placed him in time-out simply for having a potty accident - something that is completely inappropriate for a 3 year old who is still learning. Following her request, my son was formally evaluated through Comal ISD. He was seen by a speech therapist, an adolescent counselor, and special education staff. Their professional conclusion was that he did not meet the criteria for autism or any other learning or social disability. They explained that he was simply shy and reserved, which is normal for his age. Before his evaluation, Mrs. Coffing told me that my child needed to attend a school specifically for children with disabilities. After I shared the results with her, she dismissed the findings and even discredited the professionals who evaluated him, stating that she was “not happy” with the outcome and wanted further evaluation. I later met with the principal, the special education teacher, the speech pathologist, and the adolescent counselor from the school district where the evaluation took place. Every one of them expressed concern about this preschools approach and told me they could not believe how the situation was being handled. They recommended that I find other childcare, emphasizing that the issue was not with my child, but with the way this preschool was treating him. My son was only three years old at the time. Instead of being supported in his very first school experience, he was unfairly singled out, labeled, and made to feel as though something was “wrong” with him when multiple professionals confirmed that he was developing normally. He is now in kindergarten at a public school and is thriving.

My son was at CLMP starting at 3 months and I have nothing but good things to say about them. They took very good care of my baby! Mrs jannet is really good with the babies. They took so many pictures and sent them all throughout the day. All the other staff was super friendly anytime I talked to them. If you are looking for a daycare i definitely recommend CLMP

This is my two year olds second year at MPS. Ever since the start of the school year, our evening consists of getting on YouTube and playing songs we can dance to. The whole family MUST participate. He spends so much less time wanting to watch tv and more wanting to move his body. Thanks MPS for being the best influences and the best care takers for both of my babies so far. ❤️

We have been going to this preschool for a year now! My son is 2, and he loves it! They are wonderful, they truly cater to my sons needs and he learns so much! Not only have I noticed a difference in the things he has learned from their curriculum, but he has gotten so good about sharing with other kids and being respectful of others! I have nothing but great things to say about this preschool and the staff!
