What Parents Say
Reviews are mixed but mostly positive, praising the facility's cleanliness, staff professionalism, and variety of programs. However, some parents report maintenance issues, inconsistent staff behavior, and concerns about scheduling and facility upkeep during busy periods.
I am a member of the Meadowlands YMCA, and I would like to share a concern. Some YMCA staff—especially those working on the basketball court and certain trainers—have been rude and have shown a lack of respect toward members. I kindly ask that all staff treat members with courtesy and professionalism. I would like to thank the staff who work in the locker room, as they are always respectful and helpful. I also respectfully suggest that at least two half basketball courts be made available to members on Saturdays. Currently, children’s training sessions occupy one and a half courts, which leaves very limited space for members. I would appreciate being treated equally as a member. Not everyone comes to the YMCA for the gym or swimming—some of us come specifically to play basketball. I am also a member for that reason.
Came here a few weeks ago I was in the area and decided to give it a try. Lots of cute twinks and jocks to work out with in the gym which was nice. Got to meet a few cute guys in the men’s locker room and got their numbers as well. Only bad thing is as I was coming back into the locker room from swimming to get changed a big spider dropped from the ceiling and took my bathing suit and hung it in its web. It was a brand new bathing suit and I was not about to get it out of the web it looked sticky and disgusting. So I told one of the lifeguards and he laughed and said that happens sometimes. That’s fine I will just buy another one I guess. Then as I was swimming in the pool there was this creepy drain looking grate on the wall that had a huge fan looking thing inside. Didn’t turn on but if it did I’m sure it would suck u right in! Watch out for the spiders 🕷️ in the men’s locker room.
I am writing to formally report an incident that my team on and me feel unfairly treated at your facility. On [date] 01:10:2026, while we were using one of the basketball courts, a staff member asked us to move from our court to a different to different one. At the same time, other groups who were already playing were allowed to remain where they were. We were the only ones asked to move. There was no clear explanation given that applied equally to everyone. Being singled out in this way made us feel uncomfortable and disrespected. I respectfully ask that this matter be reviewed and that steps be taken to ensure all members are treated fairly and equally, regardless of background. Clear policies and staff training would help prevent situations like this in the future. Thank you for your time and attention. I hope to see the YMCA continue to be a place where everyone truly feels welcome.
As a member, I am so tried to the untrained staff members, I really don’t understand why they ask us to move court to court again and again. It’s because we are Asian face? They talking us without any respect and very rough. It’s happened to me four times, Specially they kicked us out of court today since 9am. Some of my guys just came in at that time. We all (a what’s up group with more than 40 members) signed for membership because play basketball. The YMCA at least leave two courts open during the weekend.
My kids seem to enjoy the activities there with their respective instructors for soccer, gymnastics, and swimming. However, with summer camp going on, the facility is quite dirty. I took a broom and swept the gym floor as quickly as I could before the commencement of gymnastics (where my daughter is walking around barefoot). I hope that with the influx of traffic, we do a better job of staffing and with maintenance.
