This is a special place doing great work!

I love this place! It is too easy to think about places like this one - with breakfasts, food pantries, housing access, social services, and care for people who can't get their needs met by other means - as a place simply for people in need or crisis. But really, aren't we all in need in some way? And really, the need for community is so great in our digital, post-COVID, isolated times. This is the need that the MLK Center addresses for me, and why I love it so much - no one looks at anyone with "that" look. It's truly open to all. I've loved their concerts - they have brought so many diverse bands, music and artists to their Live from the Loading Dock series. They also have an art program that I've just recently learned about that has been really beneficial - I've learned so much from it, from the artist who moderates the sessions and makes it happen, from the other artists who are there on any given day. It's relaxed me from my anxiety, and opened up a creative path for me - I'm really enjoying painting and mixed media! And I love that there are activities and focus on not just kids, or seniors, or some other category, but that there are offerings for each on its own and also all together in community. Thank you for being there and for being a truly community-building entity!

An outstanding organization that does tremendous work within the community. Their tireless and devoted work doesn't receive enough praise or support. Kudos to them and all of the dedicated individuals who serve selflessly within the region.

My daughter has attended both the after school program and the summer camp for 5 years and I absolutely adore what they offer for both my daughter and families. From assistance to programs, they are supportive and community driven.
