What Parents Say
Parents consistently praise Mariposa Child-Care Center for its loving, family-oriented environment and bilingual Spanish immersion curriculum. Directors Jose and Cenia are highlighted for going above and beyond in caring for children and creating a strong community among families. Multiple reviewers report children are well-prepared academically and socially for kindergarten.
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Mariposa! Both of my children attended- my son from age 2- Kindergarten and my daughter from 1 years old - 4 1/2 y.o. It’s a loving and nurturing environment and such a great community of parents, teachers and caregivers. Cenia and Jose truly go above and beyond for all of the kids to make them feel like a part of the Mariposa “family.” The Spanish immersion is such a unique and enriching experience and one that I’m so lucky that my kids experienced and will take with them throughout their lives. Highly recommend Mariposa!!
Choosing Mariposa to look after our little king was the best decision we made. He started daycare when he was 3 months old and Mariposa treated him like family and through that became like a second family to us Not only is Mariposa a safe and happy environment for children - it is also a bilingual one where they learn Spanish. We feel that having exposure to another language at such a young age is a gift our son will carry with him for life - now we are moving overseas we will have to work hard to keep it up. I could not recommend Mariposa enough - we will miss them every day.
Both of our children have attended Mariposa from a very young age through preschool and we could not have had a better experience. In the early years, our children were in a very loving and caring environment with a wonderful staff and directors and as they got older the Spanish based curriculum was wonderful and has prepared our children for kindergarten better than we could have expected. If you are looking for the best mix of the family environment of a small daycare plus the curriculum and education of a larger preschool, Mariposa is a wonderful choice and we have been fortunate to have our children attend.
Our daughter has attended Mariposa for the past 2 years. She loves going to school each morning and often does not want to leave. Her ability to comprehend and produce spanish is astounding. Furthermore, her teachers have really prepared her for kindergarten. But what really puts Mariposa in a class of it's own is the sense of community. Jose and Cenia and the rest of the staff have cultivated a learning environment that is rooted in care, compassion, and the joy of learning. We love this school.
Ten years ago, my wife and I were first time parents looking for a suitable day care provider for our oldest child; he was four. We had just come out of a disappointing experience with a "daycare" center where the children spent most of the day watching T.V. My wife searched and visited day care centers from Revere to Canton to Newton to West Roxbury...Milton...you get it. She came home one day raving about this new daycare being started by a husband and wife in Dedham. We went for a visit. The rest is history. What makes Mariposa special is that it is not just a place to 'drop my kid off', it is the family culture that Jose and Cenia create for each and every child that is fortunate enough to attend. Every child is viewed as unique, with individual personalities and needs. The families that bring their little ones to Mariposa immediately become part of an extended community. From birthdays to holidays to graduation events, everyone young and old cannot help but be infected by this experience. And the children are too busy to watch t.v. because they are learning. Spanish and English. Letters and numbers. Arts and crafts. Music and culture. They are also learning to share and cooperate so that they are ready to make that big leap to kindergarten when their moment arrives not just academically but socially. My oldest became part of one of the first classes that graduated from Mariposa. There was not a question where we were sending our youngest when his time came. He graduated this past summer, and my wife could not have felt more safe and secure than to have had him grow and develop under the nurturing eyes of the Mariposa family.
