What Parents Say
Marion Manor is a mixed-use facility providing both child daycare (ages 2 months-6 years) and long-term care services. Parents and patients consistently praise the caring, attentive staff, clean facilities, and quality care. The unique intergenerational program allowing children to visit elderly residents is highlighted as a meaningful experience.
My mother-in-law recently spent two weeks here. Overall the care was very good. The therapy departments were excellent. The majority of the workers were caring and attentive. Buildings are old, but fairly well-maintained. A few small incidences happened that we needed to intercede. Unfortunately, the majority of these facilities in general need a lot of family oversight. We were able to do that for my mother-in-law. I do feel for the people who Are in these facilities, and for whatever reason do not have Family watching out for them.
My family member stayed here after falling and breaking a hip. No one ever took her out of her room or tired to interact with her other than the least necessary. We never had a care meeting. If I didn't call repeatedly, mulytiple services, I would know nothing. Additionally the facility is so old and drab looking that my mom kept asking me why I put her in jail. I do not recommend.
The nursing staff and nursing assistants were wonderful. My mother has been at Marian Manor on more than one occasion. They are constantly evolving to make patient care their priority. An if you have a concern they address it immediately. The ambience and cleanliness gives it a feeling of home. The dining experience brings the patients and family together promoting laughter and positive experience. Activities and Mass are planned throughout the day for a much needed quality of life.
My mother, unfortunately, had to stay in this facility for a month, and they were not a bit understanding about our sudden upsetting family situation. My mother fell and broke her hip, and she was suddenly dependent on others to do everything for her, after she had hip surgery. We were all very upset, to begin with, because we had to come to the realization that she wouldn’t be able to return to her nice apartment. She was independent before this happened. We were going through a lot of stress, and we were just coming to terms with the fact that we were going to have to break the lease on her apartment and find a place for her to go to. The staff there, especially the nurses, did not care about our family’s sudden, upsetting issues. The nurses aids were not friendly either. We were given just three days to find a place for her, after she completed as much rehabilitation as Medicare would pay for. They charged us over 300 dollars a day after that. The nurse in the C building basically told us she was never going to be able to do anything for herself and to find a nursing home for her. I called back to get more information about this, and she was very rude and condescending about it, even when her supervisor was nearby. She said she already told me everything there was to say. She asked me if I wanted to speak with her supervisor, and I just told her how rude and insensitive she was being and hung up, because I was in tears. They wanted my mom out of the place, as soon as possible, and they never even recommended their assisted living care to us. I wouldn’t have considered it anyhow.
Between 2011 and 2013, I was a patient at this facility 4.times I got excellent care and great rehab services. The staff made me feel like family and not just another chore they had to do. There was also plenty of things to do, and many activities. I am anticipating another surgery soon, and only hope that this facility is in network with my insurance.
