Macarthur Park Lutheran School

To say this school is incredible, is a severe understatement. My daughter has been going to this school for two years now, and my only regret is not enrolling her the day she turned 18 months. She's only three; however, she knows the months of the year, days of the week, can count to 30, understands emotion, and has memorized endless worship songs and prayers. The school director, Ms. Lockett, is an incredible, compassionate, leader whose passion and love for the school and the children in it is unmistakable. Teacher turn over is extremely rare (my daughter has only had one new teacher in the afternoon care) and they have taught my daughter to be respectful, attentive, creative, and passionate. This school is truly heaven sent!

To start both my babies, 4 years apart moved from a previous day school to MacArthur park school when they were 18 months old. Both babies had Mrs. Schoor and both my babies by the middle of the 2nd week ran openly into her arms anxious for their day. Best feeling a mom can have to know your little one wants to be where you leave them for the day. I write this now because my 18 month old daughter just started and even tho it’s Covid and she can’t run down the hall and jump into her arms, as my son did at 18 months she eagerly leaves me outside and goes through the doors to the school as soon as she sees Mrs. Schoor. Reminds me of my son at that age. In addition my son stayed at mac park through preK and is now in Kindergarten at public school. When he started in the fall he scored well above average for a normal kindergartner and we were already working on 1st grade material. To me that meant Mrs. Flores (pre-K teacher) did an excellent job at preparing him for kindergarten. He was just reevaluated this spring and he only improved by 2% in math and went down 3 points in reading. To me, that means he has not learned more than the foundation he was sent with. That says a lot for Mrs. Flores and MacArthur Park school! We are thinking about keeping our daughter there kinder this go around!

I personally went to this school 20+years ago from 3 years old till i was 11 when they shut down the middle school section for lack of students and i gotta say it was by far the best experience i had as a child in schooling, cant wait to enroll my kids next:)
