Lutheran Church of the Cross is a congregation of the Florida Bahamas Synod of the ELCA. We are a church that loves God and loves his creation. We are active in ministries that reach out to the community through Meals on Wheels, Hope Lutheran Food Bank, Ready for Life Foster Kids support, Pack-a Sack weekend food for school age children and Beacon House. Our ministry to youth and families is vibrant and with our LCC Day School affiliation, we share the love of Christ with the children and families attending there. We seek to worship, share and grow in the love of Christ. Come and find your special calling in service to God.

I grew up Lutheran but had grown more favorable to non-denominational churches with age as I struggled with the differences of churches from sect to sect. When I moved to St. Pete, I went to many non-denominational churches but was vastly disappointed. Most of them played music for half the time, did a production for another majority of the service and then the sermon was only about 5 minutes long. That isn't for me either, I care most about the message, and I respect church music that isn't like listening to a new-age rock band. So I decided to finally go back and try a Lutheran church. I'm sure glad that I did. All around, the entire service was everything that I look for in a church. They had great music but the music at Church of the Cross doesn't try to steal the show and is anything but a rock concert. However, I was really blown away by Pastor William Stenke. From his first message, I could tell that the man was incredibly intelligent and a very eloquent speaker. I have lived in 3 different cities, Chicago, Baton Rouge and St. Pete, in the last 5 years and have been to about 20 or so churches all with great ratings and rapport. Pastor Stenke is the best pastor I have come across during that time. This community is quite lucky to have such a talent in this neighborhood church. I also am single and about a year shy of 30 and I come to church by myself. The church community will introduce themselves and say hello, ask about where I am from and welcome me to the area. This is also something that I did not come across in the past 5 years. The community is actually genuine and truly caring. It's nice to experience as a new face in town. Their message is not one that is set to old strict sect standards that I shied away from in the past. They understand the Church's place in this evolving world. Whether you are Catholic, non-denominational, or Lutheran, Church is supposed to teach the Word of God, how to try to walk in Jesus' footsteps, how to better ourselves, how to find peace within ourselves. Lutheran Church of the Cross is one of the best churches that I have found in my lifetime to help guide you in life's journey as a Christian. I am highly disappointed in the one star review that was posted on here. Apparently that individual took his or her entire opinion from their young son but doesn't even attend the church themselves and felt strongly enough to give them a 1-star review as such. The Church, the Community, and the Pastor are among the best I have ever come across and because of that review I was compelled to write them a review that they actually deserved.

My family loves the church. So easy to come to church in Shore Acres. Lots of great picnics and Easter celebrations on the Point. Our middle-schooler loves all the activities.

I have been coming to LCC as a snowbird from Chicago for several years. I have found it to be a warm welcoming congregation with lots of opportunities for fellowship and service. I have now moved to St. Petersburg and LCC is my church home! Looking forward to upcoming Advent and Christmas activities! Paul Erickson

I spent 21 years of my life worshiping at LCC church. I highly recommend surrounding yourself with the LCC community. Jesus is the focus and family is the result.
