Nettie’s is GREAT. Danny, the owner, is warm and friendly when he stops by our table and his wife can COOK. Food comments: the beef bacon was really good; the fried chicken was flavorful and not greasy. The collards and mac & cheese were southern-approved (I can be a "food snob" about some southern classica.) The portions are generous and prices are reasonable. The atmosphere was comfortable with great, soulful music. After tasting the cakes we had ordered to take home, my husband said, "Do what you do and start bringing people there. They deserve it." (That's high praise from him!)
My family and I went here to celebrate my Great Aunt’s 84th birthday, and what a blessing it was to have everyone together honoring the matriarch of our family. The restaurant was beautiful, cozy, and truly top-tier. The food and drinks were amazing, the music set the perfect vibe, and the Christmas themed décor was absolutely adorable. I ordered the cat fish, Mac & cheese and rice and beans with a Rum Punch. It was sooo yummy. We had an unforgettable experience and I will 100% be returning.
I had an absolutely delightful experience at this gem of a restaurant! The food was incredible—full of lovely flavors that evoked the warmth and comfort of home cooking. What truly elevated the meal, though, was the wonderful conversation I had with the owner. There’s something so special about sharing stories over delicious food! The ambiance of the place is stunning, with a setup that's both inviting and aesthetically pleasing. I also love that it’s a black-owned establishment; the positive energy is truly infectious! It was a bustling Saturday brunch when we visited, and although there was a bit of a wait, let me tell you, it was so worth it! Our waitress was great —open about the menu and eager to make recommendations. Her kindness and hospitality really stood out, and another waitress pitched in to ensure we had everything we needed. You can really feel that this spot is cherished in the community, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience!
I visited Nettie's with two of my girlfriends from college. We don't get to catch up together often so this was a treat. The owner was very pleasant and came to check on us several times. The food was also really great! When we had finished paying, he realized how much we were enjoying each other's company and relocated us to the bar so he could seat other guests. He even gave us a complementary drink. 10/10 experience. I'll definitely be back!
If you are in the Southeast Queens area and looking for a brunch/lunch spot with delicious soul food check out Nettie's! Firstly, the customer service is great from the hostess, servers, waitress, and the owner. My family and I were treated like VIPs! The waitress Janaella is sweet, professional, and cool 😎! The owner Danie is warm, motivating, hospitable, and professional. He told us Nettie's is named after his mother...so sweet! The place is beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean. We ordered a pitcher of peach bellini which was peachy, boozy, and sweet. For brunch, we ordered the Chicken and waffle Shrimp and grits Southern Classic (eggs, grits, turkey bacon, and biscuit) Country Classic ( eggs, grits, catfish, biscuit) Sweet yams and mac and cheese. The food is flavorful with the right amount of spices. The music has mellow vibes. The bar is on the premises so you can sit at the bar and order alcoholic/nonalcoholic.
