There are not enough good words to say about the staff, and facilities! They have been around for years and have an impeccable record. Great hearts, moving mountains into the ocean! Visited several times, we donate annually because of the integrity and wise leadership!
I hope that it is a very different place than it was back in the mid 60s. The house parents consisted of a woman who never came out of her room and who I never saw out of her houseboat and a brusque old man who was a husband. There were no extra curricular activities, or lifeskill classes offered. and there were intimidating older girls. The food was institutional, the vegetables never fresh. I ate as little as possible. We were anathema at the public school, (which was then Ouchita Jr. High) The boys could be downright dangerous, I saw one girl in a tussle by the tennis court (tennis courts, but no lessons) and it could have easily crossed the line into something more sinister. There were unfortunate who came from such wretched homes that they were grateful for any crumbs, but this place was not the worst of institutions. If it had a motto it would have been. "So, what did you expect for free?"
The most amazing place you could ever be if you find yourself in a low place in life !!! So many amazing people that truly love and care about you . I’m beyond grateful and thankful to have lived here they helped me become a better mother and a better woman in general!! I learned so much from the people here. They helped me and my babies sooooo much!!! I love them with all of my heart. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
In 2003 it was Simply a foster home scenario for minors lacking effective guardians with Christian indoctrination tactics and curriculum. Same as any other property that restricts exploration of ideas and discourages maturing due to the risk of revolt.
As a regular student volunteer through ULM I am always touched by the compassion and dedication that the staff and caregivers show the children
