I have to set the record straight about unhappy people blaming LB for not doing a great job. I completely disagree. My child (& I ) have attended this school through both ownerships & it has done nothing but steadily IMPROVE with the new owners. Although it wasn't 'bad' under the first owners! My child has been learning more & more skills over the last few years due to the patience of those AMAZING ladies along with love, kindness & persistence. While yes, they encourage the older children to share & use their words to get what they want, I cannot honestly say I have ever heard anyone in the 'Baby Room' be left to cry it out. This was the practice used frequently by another child care facility that is no longer in business in Taos. My child is fed a wholesome (& as organic as Taos can be) lunch & 2-3 snacks daily. Most facilities require you bring their food OR food for the whole class which is hard to manage if you work at all. All the meals are included with the price of the day's care, which last I checked IS THE MOST AFFORDABLE IN TOWN! We never had the experience of our child crying at drop off/pick up. There IS sufficient staff for the children & more teachers than they ever had with the former owners, so not sure where the " I can't pay someone to hold kids all day" comes from. Every time I see Miss Chela' she has a baby in her hands.....so that is EXACTLY what they are paying her to do. Though my child started there after the infant year, I have never heard anyone left to cry for any period of time. My child is extremely active & they have a redone playground outside, complete with a seasonal garden. In short I believe this is one of the most caring, compassionate daycare/schools you could leave your child at if you have to work. I give it 2 BIG thumbs up & my child gives it 2 little thumbs up & if you go visit for yourself you will see the same.
This has been a wonderful experience for our daughter. The school values IMO 'structured chaos' with the ability for our child to have continuity with freedom at the same time. They have used the same farm to table service locally that many other have used and has been a wonderful and our daughter has become excited about food, cooking and eating choices which is saying a lot from a picky-eater! They allow for as much parent involvement as we wished. This program is underrated for the Taos area and we are fortunate to have been a part of the Pre-K experience. The off-day Friday dropoff as an option was also great for us as it was the one day during ski season we could both enjoy some 'parent time' while our daughter enjoyed her school an extra day.
BEWARE! This school is under new ownership which I did not know upon enrolling my child in the toddler room. The dynamics of the classroom were extremely unhealthy for the infants and toddlers. I would describe the teachers as passive aggressive. Nice to the parents but mean to the children. Examples I witnessed... Babies were left in there cribs to cry themselves to sleep. Owner said, I can't pay someone to hold kids all day. Nap time was the hardest for me to endure. Teachers would just yell at the kids to lay down, go to bed, in mean stern voices then picked up slammed on there mat and covered with a blanket. Their is ZERO nurturing or loving touches at this school. One teacher said, its the school of hard knocks. When I inquired on how my child was adjusting I was told, My Child Holds his/her own! What does that mean exactly? At lunch I watched a teacher rip a Sippy cup out of a toddlers hand a yelled at that it wasn't theirs! Unreal... If this behavior goes on when a parent is present.. I wonder what happens otherwise... -
My family and I are huge fans of this place. Both mom and I work full time so we really appreciate being able to drop off at 7:45am and pick up at 5:15pm. The care has been great, especially when compared to our other daycare experience here. Our daughter went for 3 years and our son is in his 4th year there. Amazingly, he never complains about going. Little bug raises him almost exactly 50% of the time. He is disciplined, considerate and curious and I attribute much of that to the work Little Bug does with him. There are a few other things that I really like about the place. 1. The incredibly small number of days that Little Bug closes. This is important for people who work for a living. 2. The cultural mix of kids. It's not all one or the other, which is important for kids in their formative years. 3. The kindness of the teachers and caregivers towards my kids. Little Bug is truly a gem here.
Please don't take your children here!! This place is just disgusting... I did a walk thru because I need a daycare for my baby and I saw toys with mold so many other stuff, I'm not even sure how this places is licence by the state!! toddlers crawling with out socks on nasty surface and the ladies there look like they were hangover just looking at them. The owner is just money hungry she wants money and that all she cares. Just look at her office!!. I'm sorry but is not acceptable that the state is no aware of this and the state is not shutting down this place.
