I can’t recommend Homegrown enough. When my partner and I were first seeking childcare we were grateful to find a place that had lots of property for play in addition to a staff full of diverse folks, all of whom have been working there since the school opening. As we toured, it immediately felt like the kids were comfortable, and we felt so welcome. Since our child has been there (he is our first baby) they have given us confidence, comfort and advice when we sought it. They helped us to realize our kid was suffering from hearing loss and guided us on how we could get him help both from doctor and government programs. They have patiently guided our kid through some serious anxiety struggles and I’ve witnessed they practice flexibility with other neurodivergent children. It’s so comforting and appreciated. This place has become more than a daycare for our family, we’ve gained amazing friendships with other families, the staff, and the sweet resident pups, kitty and farm animals. We absolutely love The Homegrown School! From day one, we’ve been so impressed by the warm, inclusive environment and the incredible diversity among both the staff and the families who attend. I’m so glad that my children are surrounded by a variety of people—both among their peers and their caregivers. It’s clear that equity, kindness, and community are at the heart of everything they do. One of the things we value most is how collaborative the teachers are. They've consistently partnered with us to support our children’s development. Through all the ups and downs, it's always felt like a team effort. The emphasis on nature is another huge strength. I toured several schools in Austin, and I didn't find anything like the balance of indoor and outdoor learning. I’m constantly amazed that my children already have better woodcraft and farming skills than I do! The food is also amazing. I never have to worry about packing snacks or my kids getting bored of my lunches. They consistently receive beautiful food that's prepared with love. We feel incredibly lucky to be part of this thoughtful, loving, and unique community!
We’ve been so happy with our experience at Homegrown! The staff is incredibly attentive and caring and truly makes all the children feel so special and loved. They’ve helped my son work through big life changes and navigate his feelings and emotions. He has grown so much socially and emotionally thanks to the nurturing environment they provide and the specialized care they take with each child’s specific needs. Homegrown provides thoughtful lessons that not only focus on academics but also on kindness, respect for others, and caring for the environment. My son has learned basic pre-k skills, but what makes Homegrown stand out is their hands-on approach and teaching him to care for the many animals they have on site as well as their gardens! His favorite days are nature walks days, where the kids get to explore the trail and natural surroundings on the schools large property. It’s amazing to see how much he’s learning and growing. We couldn’t be more grateful for everything Homegrown and their amazing staff has done for our family!
Our son went to Homegrown for a year, and we absolutely loved both the school and the staff. The only reason we had to leave was because we moved. They serve the kids real, healthy food. Outdoor time is a big part of the day—with caring for animals, seeing plants grow, or going on nature walks. The sense of community here is incredible, with fun events that bring everyone together. I wish we still lived close enough for my kids to attend because our son learned so much while he was here. I can’t recommend Homegrown enough!
Homegrown is the perfect daycare! Our son’s experience at this school has been incredible. He gets a unique experience compared to the typical school by taking care of animals and we love the curriculum. Homegrown goes above and beyond by providing so many activities for the kids to do. The staff at homegrown are so kind and make you feel like family because they truly care about your kid just as much as you do.
