My son stopped attending this daycare about 2.5 months ago. There were some ups + downs but overall, it wasn’t a bad experience. But I just found out that he was being hit from one of the teachers. My son is very smart + his language is advanced. I know he is telling me the truth that Ms. Anissa was hitting him + another student. I called the director Ms. Ruby + she was very apologetic. She said Ms. Anissa no longer works there + that she had no idea this was happening. However she did say “I know what you’re telling me is true” which suggests that she did know + maybe that’s the reason that teacher no longer works there. When I enrolled my son, she told me there were safety cameras but that parents had no access to them. During my phone call with Ms. Ruby, I encouraged her to allow parents to access the cameras like they do at La Petite + other schools in order to hold teachers more accountable. Doing a background check is not enough to ensure that a teacher is professional + appropriate. My son liked all his other teachers + had a lot of fun at this school. But it’s also concerning that the director had no idea that her staff member was hitting children. Isn’t that the point of the cameras?? Posting this to make other parents aware.
My kids have gone here since 2017. There is no one in town I would trust more to take care of my kids during the days. Cannot recommend enough.
My daughter has been going here for over 2 years. She has made tremendous strides in speech, counting and more importantly interacting with other children her age. Mrs. Ruby and staff are continuously hosting events like a petting zoo and gymnastics bus. My daughter comes home with numerous arts and crafts weekly. On evenings when I pick her up I always see staff mopping and disinfecting toys. What can you do? Kids will get sick either way but in the 2 years my daughter has gone here she has not been sickly. Communication is always put on the front of the door and I will always get reminder texts from the owner, Mrs. Ruby. If I had any concern I voiced it to her and she acted immediately. I understand having your own business you cannot please everyone but I am one satisfied mommy and truly appreciate all the teachers and staff at Lil Peas and Sprouts for caring for my daughter and instilling structure and fun throughout her day. Keep up the great work ladies!
My 3 boys have been attending since August 2018. They love attending here. My 2 year old goes in happy everyday to Ms. Shae. They work on different activities daily, and the rooms are very open and lots for kids to play with. Ms. Shae has taught my son some of his colors and numbers, considering that he just turned 2. Also, you don’t feel like your child is caged in a small room all day. Also, Ms. Sandra in the infants room is so great to my 4 month old. Also her assistant, short hair blonde-very loving to him as well. Over all, I am satisfied with this daycare. Owner Ruby Mendoza does a great job at communicating with me and you can see truly loves her daycare center. Highly recommend them!
My son attended Lil' Peas & Sprouts prior to the pandemic shut down (age 9 weeks-2.5 years), both their closed location on Braun and this location. He was always generally happy attending, especially in his earlier months/year. There were a few times during toddlerhood that separation/drop-off became a little harder, esp with new teachers, but he generally liked most of his caregivers. Keeping in mind that daycare generally always 'feels' overpriced, we felt this daycare was reasonably priced for what they offered. I was never under the impression that their caregivers were highly-trained professionals, but I did feel they mostly chose the profession because it was something they enjoyed, and they had experience in child care. I knew a few caregivers who were new moms themselves with kids enrolled there. One thing I enjoyed were the arts and crafts projects the kids would do, especially since they mostly revolved around hand and foot prints. These have become real keepsakes, especially as parents with heavy workloads who aren't able to do those things during our free time. Mrs. Ruby was always very communicative to me when I had questions, considering I was able to communicate with her via text, and seemed to take any concerns I had very seriously. There was an incident with a fairly new caregiver that left an ugly cut below my son's collarbone. I was told that the cause of this was due to the caregiver's fingernail length in combination with her overwhelmed frustration with the kids. Mrs. Ruby immediately let go of the staff member responsible, but I'll note that I was not immediately notified (I was not made aware until i arrived and saw it with my own eyes). There were also times when I let Mrs. Ruby know about upcoming special occasions or birthdays where she worked with my son's teacher to make specialized artwork/cards, which I really appreciated. And although I'll agree with other reviewers here that there wasn't always someone at the front desk after 4/5pm, the majority of those times, there was at least someone in the back office. Overall, I was happy with my experience here, especially when my son was under 1.5 years old. You take the good with the bad anywhere you attend and hope for the best, especially when money is tight, but living on a one-parent income isn't an option.
