Life Time Fitness - Shelby

The first person I met when I joined was Madeline, who walked me around and showed me all around the facility, & answered questions concerning equipment & studios. To this day, every time she sees me, she welcomes me by name, even when I didn't remember hers sometimes in the beginning. She's the nicest person that I have met at the Shelby location & you can tell she loves her job. I nominate her for a raise. Other staff like Patty & Kaitlin have gone above and beyond as well. Equally important; the maintenance staff does a great job as this is the cleanest club out of 7 competitors I've been in. My last membership at a competitor's club was steadily going downhill. I swim a lot & used to take 3 sinus OTC meds each visit or I would pay for it with congestion & runny nose for 2 days after. Since I joined Lifetime; I don't take any meds & don't need to wear earplugs anymore either. The other clubs' pools frequently had way too much chlorine & i used to have to stop frequently & and rinse my mouth before drinking water. Now, I can swim for an hr straight if I want to. If there are ever any equipment issues; they are fixed promptly. Thanks Lifetime for being better than the rest; it helps to motivate me to be my best.

I have been a lifetime member for many years, but this year the personnel at the Shelby Twp location has been superb! Kurt Brazil , concierge, has provided excellent service , including helping me to locate clubs when I travel and even warning (Lol) them I am coming! He has also allowed my guests to see the club, some have joined and a few are considering membership because of Kurt’s approach! Billy Whitley is hands down the best personal trainer! Lifetime is lucky to have him! PT Gordon is always smiling and positive! Abigail and Auxa in the Life Cafe are friendly helpful and make yummy shakes, and keep the cafe running smooth! I enjoy this gym. It's clean, workers are always working and doing their job. Workers are friendly. Machines are good, never have a breakdown so it doesn't interrupt my planned workout. I find at times, i need the Cafe as I get hungry and need to grab something. Hours are great, drive by other gyms and they are closed. I don't mind paying the higher fee, it's worth it, I don't splerge on other things in my life. The gym is what helps me stay healthy.

Loved it at first but it got obnoxious and unfair at the end. Member prices continually increased even though my husband and I have been there for 8 years. Music from the classes was so loud and disrespectful to the rest who want to work out by themselves. It seemed like all they cared about is their classes. The equipment is quite limited & SO CLOSE to each other that you can barely walk through or workout without being insanely close to others. The gym was always clean and somewhat luxury inside but nowhere near as good as the new powerhouse.

I was very impressed with this Lifetime! Kurt Brazzil was so helpful and really made me feel welcome. Everyone else was also super friendly, and the facilities were extremely clean. The best part was the kids club! They were so organized with different planned activities, they had something for all 3 of my kids in different age groups. I was very, very impressed. Also felt comfortable leaving my kids in great hands with the teachers who my kids really enjoyed. The pool (indoor & outdoor) was clean and the overall, my whole family had a blast.
