Lewis Central Lucky Children

I feel it's necessary to inform parents who are planning or currently sending their children to Lewis Central Lucky Children (LCLC) about our recent experience. Please note, this review is not a reflection of the teachers at the facility—they are fantastic. My son went through the entire program, and now my daughter is attending, both having nothing but great things to say about the teachers. However, as a parent, my views have significantly changed regarding who is now running LCLC today. My daughter has been part of the LCLC summer program and has enjoyed every moment. She's participated in every field trip this summer without issue. According to the organizer we didn't complete the permission slip. She was looking forward to and very excited about her zoo trip with her friends but was told she couldn’t go because we, her parents, supposedly hadn’t filled out a permission slip. As a result, she had to stay behind by herself with a teacher. I fully understand the importance of following procedures. Still, as a childcare provider, I expect a certain level of empathy and responsibility, especially considering my daughter had gone on every previous field trip this summer. No one called us to check on the missing permission slip, and my daughter ended up by herself with another teacher while her friends enjoyed the zoo. Our biggest concern arose the next morning when we contacted the organizer to discuss what happened. Instead of understanding our concerns, she showed no empathy and stated that she was following procedures. She even mentioned that she didn’t have time to call 100 parents about their children attending the zoo. In my opinion, even if only 2-3 children were missing permission slips, a quick call or text to double-check with parents would have been a simple and thoughtful gesture. If she didn't have time, she could have delegated it to another person on her team. The lack of empathy in this situation clearly showed us that the current management views this more as a business than a place where children’s well-being is the top priority. We didn't get any type of feeling that she felt bad about the situation. It's disheartening to see the change in care at LCLC, especially when my son had such a positive experience under the previous management. As parents, we can sense when someone truly cares about our children, and unfortunately, that seems to be lacking at LCLC now.
