I'm so glad I found this gem of a preschool! I had been looking for both a play based preschool as one that included Spanish in their daily activities and this is it!! My reasoning for the play based aspect is because my son is only 2, a small child, and I'd rather wait for a classroom environment until Kindergarten and let him be a child now. Not only has research shown that preschool aged children thrive more in play based environments but I've also seen the results from friends children who attend play based preschools. Not only do they learn everything they need to learn for Kindergarten but also are very social and confident and the latter is something a classroom environment school doesn't always teach very well. I also wanted a preschool with Spanish since I believe it is extremely important for people to know more than one language and preschool aged children will pick up a language a lot easier than waiting until they are older. Although my son has only been attending LPIS for a few months I've already seen very positive outcomes as a result of him attending LPIS. Prior to this preschool, my son had been attending another preschool that wasn't play based, but still is a very good preschool. My son was doing very well at that preschool and was learning a lot of things (the alphabet, shapes, numbers, ect.), but he was still pretty timid. On our drives home, I would try to converse with him and ask him what he did at school and usually he'd just tell me that he ate crackers and he wouldn't say much else. Ever since attending LPIS, our drive homes are not quiet at all. My son converses with me non-stop about what he sees during the drive, what he did at school, what he wants to do or eat for dinner, sings songs, ect. He is learning his shapes, the alphabet, numbers via song (he sings these too). He is more social/confident and holds conversations very well (previously conversations on the phone with my son were pretty basic (hello, how are you, goodbye) but now after the initial greeting he carries a conversation very well ... grandparents love this!). My son is still is learning what he needs to learn (simply in a more fun and appealing manner to him) but is also no longer as shy as he use to be AND is learning Spanish. The staff here is also amazing too! My son loves the maestras and I love that the staff is not only very caring with my son but also communicates very effectively with the parents. Parents get emails weekly with announcements, snack menu, words of the week, ect. Parents also occasionally receive pictures of our child that day sent to us via text (I'm never expecting this but when I get a picture of my son while I'm at work, it just brightens my day). I'm extremely fortunate to have found this preschool!
