Little did we know that when we brought our son to Let It Shine 3 years ago that it would become an integral part of our family and community. Our little 3 year old could not walk when he first started and Teresa and her team were always there for creative solutions to integrate him into the class. They are always creative, sensitive, and inclusive to each child's needs. Our son has thrived at this school! He went in with a smile and came out laughing and loving his school. The team goes above and beyond to make this school so special for these kids and I can't say enough wonderful things about our journey there.
Let It Shine sees every child as incredibly valuable and uniquely designed and gifted. The staff and teachers work to find what could be causing difficult behaviors and provide supports to help the child be successful. It is truly an individualized program where the teachers support each child’s needs. The staff cared for our son and family in one of the most difficult seasons we have had. During a year that my son was beginning to internalize being “bad” at a previous preschool program, Let It Shine helped collaborate and guide us to resources and patiently helped us work through his needs. He ended the year with a confidence in his ability to make helpful choices for himself and others. It truly was remarkable to see the progress he made! We feel that we understand his needs now in a way that will help us be better advocates for him moving forward, and we are hopeful about what he will be able to accomplish. We know that this year where he was loved and supported at school in the ways he is at home, always given a fresh start each day, was a gift from God.
My son attended Let it Shine for two years, and I can't rave about him enough. He's been diagnosed with severe ADHD, sensory processing disorder and he also has a speech delay. After things didn't work out in his former preschool, I waited months to take him to a place that really understood him. Let it Shine hit all the marks. I love the place, and the vision the director has for the place. My kid's challenges are understood, dealt with in a positive manner. I can't tell you how many times they went OUT of their way to help me and my son. Ms. Theresa & Ms. Rebecca are amazing. I highly recommend!
Last year as we prepped to send our youngest to preschool, we paused about whether or not it would be the right fit. After a year at home we saw more and more that he had more needs than a normal preschool could meet. We interviewed with Teresa at Let It Shine and right off the bat we knew it was a perfect fit! I could spend hours going on and on about how amazing this program is for children with sensory issues, but all you have to do is see for yourself. All of the staff are amazing, kind and dedicated to our kiddos. With each day and week that passes we are seeing our son thrive in ways we worried he might not. He LOVES school. Adores his friends. And loves his teachers. There is never a fight about going to school in the morning. It is truly this hidden gem in South Austin and we will forever be grateful we lucked into a spot in their program. 💗💗
I cannot express how much this school helped my son! We had him there for two years and the only sad part is that they don’t continue to elementary.. the director, Teresa, is just a beautiful person who really and truly cares about your kid (I mean for real!) my son had a lot of issues (partially due to his vision impairment and adhd) this school actually helped him learn how to socialize with other kids and just be a happy kid. My son is a very sweet kid and it was debilitating to see him suffer and not be able to help him. Thank you so much Teresa, Rebecca, and all the staff for everything. He misses you all dearly and so do I.
