What Parents Say
This listing appears to be for an apartment complex, not a daycare center. The reviews reflect tenant experiences with housing conditions, management communication, and rental practices rather than childcare services.
They definitely have a huge roach infestation. Other than my building being dirty when I lived there, overall it was fine for the super low rent a year ago. Now my same 1 bed is 999 compared to ~500 that I was paying. Definitely not worth it. Never got my deposit back either when I moved out.
Extremely unprofessional. When you read reviews from people who attempted to live there but had a bad experience, that’s a red flag. I applied and was denied due to credit. The agent who contacted me told me at the beginning that there was nothing to worry about. After I was denied, I offered to pay more than the listing price. No one responded to my emails. The rep at their leasing office kept telling me that she would remind them to apply. I left several voicemails. No one reached out at all. Not a single person. It’s almost like they don’t want their apartments to sell. Don’t waste your time here, they’ll treat you the same.
My husband and I lived here a year and had a bed bug infestation. They did come heat the apt. However they came back because the problem apt. wasn't taken care of, even though they knew where the bugs were coming from. Had issues with the AC which needed replaced. It was either freeze out or scold in the summer which upped our bill. The first day we started moving in I was immediately surrounded by 5 girls asking if I had any money. The apartment itself was decent for the price and we were easily accepted. However, if we were a day late on rent they'd tape a neon note on our door that read "Pay or vacate."
Don’t bother wasting your time here. The apartments are nice and cheap but there is a severe lack of communication between the leasing office and potential tenants. I was denied due to credit and then they told me they don’t accept co-signers. I tried to get in touch with an agent to make an offer to pay more than the listing price. No one ever replied to my several emails. I’ve called numerous times and a young lady answered and told me each day that they’d respond by the end of the day. No one ever called me back. Highly unprofessional. It’s not worth the hassle . It’s almost like they just don’t want to sell their apartments. Who wouldn’t want more money than they were asking?? Good luck to those who actually have the patience to deal with them.
My entire experience with applying and attempting to rent an apartment at La Joya was negative, aside from Carla showing me the apartment. My first interaction was me calling an attempting to do a virtual visit, I inquired about a newly renovated apartment and Diana attempted to show me one of the older units, also the connection was poor and she was unable to hear anything I was saying. We ended the virtual tour and I scheduled an appointment to go in to see the apartment. I arrived to the appointment 10 minutes early and proceeded to ring the door bell to check in. Diana came to the door took one look at me being a fully covered Muslim woman and told me that since I was early I would have to wait in my car until someone else showed up at the office because she couldn't leave the office unoccupied. I set in my car waiting and watched as her coworker arrived. At 3:10 neither ladies had come out to take me on the viewing so I proceeded to once again ring the door bell, at which time Carla answered. I stated that I had an appointment and was told to wait in my car until she arrived because I was early. It was clear by the look on her face and her response that Diana had never made her aware of my appointment or presence. She showed me the unit and as it was small I inquired and made arrangements to come back and see a larger one since she stated that she was unable to show it to me then being that there were workers in the unit. I was told that the unit wouldn't be ready until Tuesday, but I would be able to view it at that time. When I arrived Tuesday I was told that the unit in question was no longer available that it had been rented as soon as it was completed. I was shown another fairly recently renovated unit. I informed Carla that I was very much interested and inquired about the status of my application that I had submitted the previous week. She told me being that she wasn't the one that I had initially spoke with that she was unable to give me any information, but she would have someone call me by no later than 3 pm. I never received a call and ended up calling them to only be told that my application process hadn't even been started. Diana looked over my submitted application and documents at that time and requested my banking statements. I inquired as to why they were needed, as the application process outlined online didn't include a request for banking information. I was given a story about receiving an abundance of fake pay stubs. The next day I submitted my bank statements and the day after that I reached back out to the company. I was immediately placed on hold for an extended period of time. I hung up and called back only to be told someone would contact me by the end of the day. At 4 pm I reached back out to the company and once again spoke with Diana only to be told that she had submitted my application to "management", I was trying to figure out who management was considering she introduced herself as the complex manager, she told me someone who get back to me either later today or first thing in the morning. Shortly after speaking with her I checked me email and there was a message saying that I was denied based on my credit. It stated that my oldest account was too recent, mind you my oldest account is my student loan account which is over 7 years old. It also stated that the balances on my accounts were too high compared to my loan limits, which is the exact opposite of what is stated on my credit reports. Lastly it stated something about me having no relevant real estate account information. I believe that I was denied due to the fact that I am both black and Muslim. I know that the owner is going to come on here and suggest that discrimination at La Joya is not true, but it is clearly evident in the other posted reviews. The owner will also try to state that the apartment complex tenants are of diverse races and I didn't see that either times that I was on the premises. Unless you are Latino/Hispanic do yourself a favor and don't bother attempting to rent here, as you will be denied.
