We’ve had a great experience with La Petite in Sun Prairie so far. The director is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and she truly went above and beyond to help ease my daughter’s transition from her previous childcare to La Petite. Ms. Mari is so friendly and welcoming and really helped with those harder transitions during the first couple of days. She took the time to answer all of the questions I had and made sure we felt comfortable and supported every step of the way. It’s very reassuring to know your child is in a place where the staff genuinely care about both the children and their families. I’m so happy we chose La Petite!
Our experience at La Petite in Sun Prairie has been wonderful. From the very beginning, the director made us feel welcomed and supported, going out of her way to ensure my daughter’s transition from her previous childcare was as smooth as possible. Ms. Mari was especially kind and encouraging, helping tremendously during those first few challenging days. She was always patient, answered all of my questions, and made sure we felt confident and at ease. It truly means so much to know your child is in an environment where the staff genuinely care about the children and their families. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to choose La Petite!
Please review the list of violations on the Department of Children and Families. We started at this daycare center in 2022. It was great at first but slowly started to go down hill with persistent staffing issues. It got to the point that classrooms were consistently breaking licensing rules related to having a proper teacher to child ratio. The center started to ask families to keep kids home on a rotating schedule so proper ratio could be met. This ask for working families is not conducive to having consistent care. At the very end of our time here, my daughter received a head injury, and we were not notified until pick up, which is a licensing violation. The head teacher could not explain what happened when pressed, and when I asked the director to see the medical log. I was told to come back on Monday. The medical log MUST be disclosed to families when asked under state licensing standards. It is very clear that the director needed time to update and backdate the medical log. This facility has since gone further down hill, and I would consider it to be unsafe for my children.
For about the first year we really enjoyed La Petite and thought it was a great fit but a year in we began to notice small things starting to bubble up: first staffing (lots of change, high student:staff ratios, burned out teachers), cleanliness, lack of accountability for students and staff, and soon it seemed the morning songs and lessons were replaced by table top time. My daughter started having a really hard time going to La Petite and after watching cameras, talking to teachers and the director, etc. I decided to pull her from La Petite. On our last day, no one acknowledged our departure and we recieved no instructions (we gave about 5 weeks notice). I was billed for the following week, even though we weren't in attendance (autobill issue). The refund/reimbursement process was challenging and I had to file a fraud dispute with my bank to get my money back. Please review the list of violations on the Department of Children and Families.
This was our first daycare option that was available and for what you paid I was surprised at what we got. The property did have some staffing issues and frequently asked for volunteers to stay at home due to short staffing. This occurred seemingly too frequently. Secondly was the cleanliness of the facility. It seemed to need additional cleaning on a daily basis and at times things were not appealing to be leaving a child there. In all we changed facilities shortly after. Hopefully the property can be revitalized.
