What Parents Say
La Petite Academy Richmond has highly polarized reviews. Positive reviews praise the staff's dedication, developmental support, and warm environment, while negative reviews report serious concerns about staff behavior, classroom management, and administrative inefficiency.
My son is three and he has been going to La Petite for two and a half years and we could not be more happy with them. They are an incredibly hard working bunch of folks who really strive to take good care of the kids and help them develop socially and intellectually. I've been especially impressed with their yearly reports on developmental milestones, and the community they try to create with events like Trunk or Treat for Halloween. I'll miss them when my son goes to TK next year!
To La Petite Team, Just wanted to send a huge shout-out and a massive thank you for everything you do! We honestly can't express how thrilled we are with our daughter's journey at La Petite since she joined you back in August. When she first started, she was a little bundle of nerves, a bit shy about going to school, which is totally normal. But it’s been absolutely incredible to watch her transform! Thanks to the amazing care and encouragement from your whole team, that initial hesitation has completely vanished. Now, she practically skips into school every day, bursting with excitement for what she's going to learn and do. It’s such a wonderful change, and it truly speaks volumes about the warm and effective environment you've created. A special round of applause definitely goes to Ms. Michelle! She's truly a rockstar. Her classes are so vibrant and fun, and she has this magic touch that makes learning feel like a game. Our daughter has made fantastic progress with her ABCs and 123s, and it’s all thanks to Ms. Michelle’s dedication and creative ways of teaching. Her classroom is always buzzing with positive energy, and we know that’s a huge part of why our daughter is developing so beautifully. And we can’t forget Ms. Adriane, who our daughter absolutely adores! She always looks forward to seeing her, and Ms. Adriane’s kind and supportive presence really provides that extra layer of comfort and care that means so much to us. Finally, we want to give a massive thank you to Director Ms. Cynteria. Her leadership shines through everything at La Petite. You can feel her commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and genuinely engaging community for all the kids. We particularly appreciate how approachable and involved she is with parents – it really makes us feel like we’re all in this together, which is fantastic for our children’s growth and well-being. Honestly, the positive impact La Petite has had on our daughter’s overall happiness and development is just priceless. We're so incredibly grateful for the hard work, passion, and dedication from every single person on your team. You're all doing an amazing job!
I had the worst experience with this center. My search for childcare started in January. I requested a tour and not once, not twice, but three times did they call me to reschedule my tour on the day of each tour due to the 1 and only person capable of doing the tour being out of the office each time for pretty much 3 weeks. I finally get a tour which is now in February. The tour was great. I was told they weren't accepting 2 year olds until April which is perfect for me because I'm on maternity leave and don't return to work until April. I called the next day saying I'd like my daughter to attend their center. The lady on the phone said "great, drop by and pick up an enrollment packet". My husband's takes off to richmond from our home in Vallejo. I call the center to let them know he's on his way and another lady answers and say's "we don't have enrollment packets for 2 year olds. Give us a week to make one and we'll call you". So we wait a week and no call, we're now on week 2 and still no call, so I call them. "Yes we have the packet ready for pick up" great. I fill the packet out and return everything within 3 days. I'm told it takes about a week to input the enrollment application and they'll call me with instructions to pay the $185 registration fee afterwards. So again a week comes and goes, no call. 3 weeks have now passed so I call them and still the enrollment packet hasn't been put into the system. We are now in March. I called 4 days ago and the lady said "Yes it's in the system, but I'm doing a tour right now. I'll call you back as soon as I'm finish with the payment instructions". Okay, no call. I call today 3 times and no answer, I'm assuming caller I'd? So I call the customer service and explain the situation. They say they will try and help me. Shortly after I received an email saying sorry for the delay here's the payment instructions. Oh and also they're not sure if they can guarantee my daughter's acceptance in April now, it might be some time in May or so. I am now forced to search for another center that can last minute accept my daughter because I'm due to return to work in about 2 weeks! This is such horrible service and it's not okay. You'd think for a corporate company who charges $436 a week for care would be more efficient and on top of their job when it comes to their services. I hope anyone else, who is seeking childcare from this center doesn't have the same experience as I did. But don't put all your hopes into only this center because you may be last minute stuck like I am. Have options ready!
Our four year old son attended this school from February 2021 to August 2021 when he started kindergarten. The school far exceeded our expectation in terms of childcare and quality of education. The principle and staff are very skilled and sincere, especially they did a fantastic job during the pandemic. Our son's talents just flourished to the extent he was able to write, paint and make a lot of crafts before going to kindergarten and was very well prepared to start kindergarten confidently. We recommend this particular school to all the parents who are looking for a good school for their child. We would be happy to speak with any one regarding our recommendation. Sincerely, Masoomeh
Some of the Teachers are ok here but unfortunately most reviews of this school are true and real. I didn’t realize this until a few weeks ago my daughter started having issues after a teacher switch in her class. I never really watched the cameras until recently when certain things were brought to my attention and a change in behavior with my daughter. I was told my daughter was having issues at nap time. Therefore that prompted me to watch the cameras to see what was going on. when I watched the cameras I immediately realized the problem, there’s not an environment created for nap time. Teacher’s are walking around ,talking, walking through the kids back-and-forth, all lights were on, no soft music. It would be hard for anyone to sleep through that let alone two and three year olds for 2/3 hrs. When I started to watch the cameras I was horrified by what I saw. Overly aggressive adults with lack of patience should NEVER work with children EVER. Ms Maria the preschool/ preK teacher shouldn’t be around kids. I saw her grab my daughter by the arm and put her on her cot for a nap. My daughter was afraid of her! Of course my child was crying any child would cry. and it doesn’t stop there. Another incident where there was broccoli on my daughters plate and she had a moment and started to cry and told her teacher Ms Jhona she didn’t want the broccoli and she accidentally spilled her milk Ms Jhona grabbed her by the arm an walked her to the office without letting her finish any of her lunch. The last straw for me was seeing my daughter on camera with another child in a inappropriate manner in front of the teacher ms Jhona and the teacher didn’t do anything. I called the school immediately to let them know what was going on. If I’m seeing this on camera how are the teachers not seeing this happen in front of their faces! To be honest I actually recorded this for my own evidence because they would’ve said it didn’t happen. That incident was my daughter’s last day, mind you everything mentioned here all happened within one to weeks of me viewing the cameras. Just imagine what was going on long before I actually started to watch the cameras. I actually felt sick about this. My daughter would cry every day when I dropped her off and I thought it was because she’s just so attached to me but no it was a-lot going on at the school, my daughter also told me Ms Greta squeezed her stomach and made her fall and hit her head because she was crying and not taking a nap and they put her in the room with the babies. I asked Ms Greta about this and she denied squeezing her stomach but stated she did put her the room with the babies because she wouldn’t stop crying and being disruptive at nap time. They wanted me to believe what they told me about my daughter but not believe what she said happened to her. Again this all happened within a short period of time. If your child goes here WATCH THE CAMERAS it’s in your best interest better safe than sorry. Tell them to check your kids in immediately so you can see what’s happening as soon as they start. And listen to your children!! My daughter is now at a new school and I haven’t had one issue at nap time or any other issues no crying at drop off time or anything. She was actually happy to leave la petite. I really didn’t want to write this review it actually makes me really sad because its a few good teachers here Ms.Francia Ms Tamani Ms Doreen Ms Lauren Ms Martha Ms Michelle were all great but parents need to be aware of what’s happening here.
