What Parents Say
La Petite Academy in Huntington Beach receives consistently high praise from parents, with all reviews rating it 5/5 stars. Parents highlight the caring and knowledgeable staff, strong educational programs, and safe environment where children thrive developmentally and emotionally.
Our kids have been attending La Petite for about two years, and we’ve had a great experience. The teachers are great and truly know our kids’ personalities, strengths, and individual needs. The educational program is excellent and well structured. For example, Ms. Rafaella is teaching my son skills he’ll benefit from in kindergarten. We also appreciate the smooth and clear communication from both the teachers and the director, Ms. Chantel.
We absolutely adore this La Petite location! You will too! Our son has been attending the infant program since he was about 3 or 4 months old and is now 11 months, getting ready to change classrooms. He is so excited to see his teachers at drop off that he basically jumps out of my arms. That's enough to tell me how happy and safe he feels here. The infant teachers are gems! And the other teachers are always so kind and warm when I see them. Miss Chantel, the director, greets us most mornings and seems to know each kiddo individually. You can tell she cares a lot about the La Petite families and providing a safe and fun place for littles.
I strongly caution families to look closely before enrolling here. Mrs Chantel the director at this center was unprofessional, dismissive, and often communicated in ways that felt manipulative and controlling rather than supportive. Classrooms ran out of essential supplies, including wipes for infants, and staff were instructed to use toilet paper instead. Food was extremely rationed — teachers were required to count out individual pieces per child, even when children were still hungry. Concerns about supplies and nutrition were raised but not meaningfully addressed. The overall culture reflected poor management and a lack of accountability at the top. Families deserve a program where children’s basic needs are prioritized and staff are respected. When these issues were brought to Chantel’s attention, they were not meaningfully addressed, and communication often felt dismissive and manipulative rather than supportive. Leadership plays a huge role in the quality of care, and that was deeply concerning.
Most of the workers in the children's rooms that worked with our child were pretty good, but this is more of a daycare than a preschool. It is chronically understaffed, the staff turns over often, and the front office is a mess. I think there were 3 directors/supervisors during our short time there. In addition, the current director, Chantel, lied directly to my wife and I about an injury our child experienced while at La Petite. After asking some follow-up questions, Chantel eventually admitted she did not know how the injury occurred and that she made up the previous explanation. Finally, our child last attended La Petite in June 2025 and we just received a collection notice for fees for a summer program that our child did not attend. Enroll with caution and lower your expectations.
My son has been attending La Petite for about a year and a half now. He truly loves it here and constantly talks about Ms. Felicia and Ms. Suzanne. They take such good care of him and his vocabulary has exploded since coming here. I do like that this place provides him breakfast snack, lunch and afternoon snacks. We initially came here because this was one of a few places that offered part time options so we can take our time to transition him to FT daycare. They also offer some additional programs throughout the school year (gym/dance time, summer camps, etc) at an extra cost. Small thing but I wished they accepted company discounts for kids younger than 2!
