What Parents Say
La Petite Academy Grand Prairie has highly polarized reviews. Positive reviews praise the caring staff, educational curriculum, and personalized attention, while negative reviews cite serious concerns including staff turnover, inadequate supervision, safety incidents, poor communication, and unprofessional behavior from management.
My son first started here, and I was thrilled with the staff and everything. However, a few months later, the director left, and one by one, each teacher started leaving when the new director arrived. While she did make some changes to improve the appearance of the facility, I’m not sure what else she would do besides closing her door with a sign in a meeting all day. Staff members who had been there for years all left, citing the director’s disrespectful and rude behavior. My first bad experience was when my son kept getting removed from class without my knowledge. When I asked the director if she could inform me when he was pulled to the front, she said she would try. However, she lied about the reason for his removal, which I found concerning because when I asked the teachers about her statement, they confirmed that it was not true. At the end the daycare had teachers who lacked the necessary training and were new to the job. The kids were throwing toys around and watching cartoons on a iPad all day. The reason why I finally pulled my son out of here was because one of these new teachers pushed him during nap time, and his dad and I witnessed it on the cameras. I don’t know if that staff member is still there because I removed my son that same day. If the current director is still in charge, I strongly advise against this daycare. Please consider looking for another daycare.
La Petite has made a post asking for reviews in efforts to beat/outperform their sister locations. This is a bold request, considering this particular facility often struggles to meet basic standards and expectations. Any reviews submitted should be carefully considered and followed by meaningful changes and corrective action. I would not recommend this location to anyone. This location is either short staffed, dealing w/turnovers, dealing with maintenance issues or have (some) teachers that lack the proper training & patience to care for toddlers. My nephew transferred from the La Petite location in Forest Hill, and the difference in quality between Forest Hill and the Grand Prairie location is significant, with Forest Hill providing a far better experience. During his enrollment at the Grand Prairie location, there were repeated incidents where my toddler was bitten by another child. It took an extended period for staff to implement an effective plan to separate the children, closely monitor interactions, and prevent further incidents. While these occurrences have decreased since the other child transferred, there are still other kids around that bites him when an issue occurs. Communication from both the director and staff needs improvement. For example, within the past two weeks, a post was made stating the center was closing due to staffing shortages. The wording suggested a permanent closure, causing confusion and concern among parents. Clarification that it was only a temporary, same-day closure was not provided until approximately eight hours later. I can only imagine the frustration and uncertainty this caused for families who rely on timely and accurate communication. There is also a lack of timeliness from staff during morning drop-off. While 6:30 a.m. is early, it is within the stated hours of operation. Staff arriving late and rushing to open the facility creates an inconvenience for parents who need to arrive at work on time. Recently, daily updates have become inconsistent. Previously, parents received regular information regarding meals, academic activities, playtime, and multiple photos throughout the day. Now, updates may include only one or two photos, limited meal information, and occasional camera access. Now, we often have to request visibility that was once routinely provided. Given the high cost of tuition, a higher level of service and care is expected. There is considerable room for improvement at this location, particularly in staffing, communication, and facility maintenance. Lastly, I recommend that the center invest in electric nasal suction devices with replaceable spouts—or at minimum, individual spouts for each child. Parents should not have to pick up their children with excessive nasal discharge or unclean faces due to inadequate sanitation practices.
Parents please keep reviewing and touring because this daycare is not safe for your children. If I could give 0 stars I would. The teachers are young and stay on their cellphones all day no one is teaching the children , no ABC songs nothing. When I go to pick him up he is NEVER in the class he is assigned to I have to walk around the daycare door to door to find my child, in an emergency that is not safe. I dropped my child off and I hear the teacher yelling shut up and pushing the children to sit down. The director is unprofessional. They feed them dry biscuits and water for breakfast. My child hates this places and loves his new daycare that’s how I can also tell he felt unsafe.
not surprised at all to see the negative reviews and rating. I did a tour and that alone showed me my kids were not safe here. And I agree about Sylvia, shes just there for a check, I can tell she doesnt like kids. I dont understand why corporate are money hungry and why they dont care who they hire to look over the little people, yet alone why they continue to keep the same people several parents have complaints about. Corporate is that lazy, they proved to me they dont care about the parents concerns and childrens safety. Please also stay away from childrens courtyard, theyre in the same corporation... sister schools.
I had my 20 month old at this daycare and I loved the staff they were all very nice to me and my son. Ms. Meylin the director and Ms.Jessica were always welcoming. His teachers in the infant 1 & 2 side treated my baby as if he was their own. I was always updated about my baby through the app and at pickup. I am so thankful to Ms.Kelsey for capturing my baby’s first steps I will always remember ♥️ I recommend this daycare.
