What Parents Say
La Petite Academy Cedar Rapids receives mixed reviews with most parents praising the caring staff, educational activities, and parent communication tools, though a significant minority report serious concerns about child supervision, safety, and staff responsiveness in the toddler rooms.
My son is 3 years old. This school has been outstanding! We love the teachers, all are knowledgeable and care so much about the kids. The playground is excellent! We are able to log in and view cameras and see our son, always having fun. Everyday I am able to see pictures of our son doing the weekly learning activities. Every week they have new lesson plans (which they post for parents to also see) and they do art work, science, dancing etc. We’re very happy with this wonderful center!
Horrible place, horrible experience. Would not recommend. My daughter went here and still has the scars on her face from other children scratching her on the face. They are not watched properly for this to continuously happen. Her clothes were constantly stained with food and/or mud. I was told to send her in clothes I didn’t care about as if that mattered. And when I asked too many questions they basically kicked her out. I should have pulled her out way before that but was in school myself and it was close to our home. The turn over is crazy with staff and directors. They often feel overwhelmed and vent to parents that have their own situations. It was a horrific situation that I would not wish on anyone.
We’ve had an amazing experience at the Cedar Rapids center. Our little started in the two year old room and is in the Early Preschool room now. The teachers are kind and loving, and my little comes home talking about her good day and her funny teachers. Any incidents with other kids have been handled promptly and professionally. The director is incredible. She bends over backwards to try to accommodate. Her asst director and the education coordinator are always pleasant & well informed. Wish the price was more competitive though!
Absolutely awful! Do not take your children here. They knew what I expected from them when my son started. I kept him there maybe a week and a half and pulled him out due to having incident reports every single day! I watched on the live cameras as the teachers in the 2 year old room did not pay attention to the kids they constantly were chatting in the corner and had their backs turned. I saw my son get hit by a very aggressive little boy numerous times more than 4 times in one week, he was hit, bit, and jumped by two other boys leaving bruises all over him and the teachers didn’t notice until I called and explained what happened. Then when I brought it up to the director I was basically told this is normal for two year olds and it’s really not I work in a daycare and I know this is not normal. I chose this daycare because I thought it was going to have a strict curriculum but what I saw everyday was activities that lasted 30 seconds with each child and group activities that last a few minutes then the rest of the day the kids just ran around and didn’t have any supervision or guidance. After showing Stephanie the photos of the bruises that my son got from being jumped and not protected or helped and may I remind you I WATCHED IT and she said her teachers do a “fantastic job”. The director told me after I called 3 times in one week to tell them I saw him being bullied and abused that it’s “normal” BUT I shouldn’t receive incident reports everyday. THEN she goes on vacation and I get incident reports every single day! I would not recommend ever bringing your child here. They also leave the lights completely on during nap and then wonder why the kids don’t want to sleep. Another reason I pulled him out is they didn’t listen to what I told them he needed. They hardly responded to me anytime I messaged them unless he was hurt. Ashley in the 2 year old room looks absolutely aggressive with the children I even saw her snatch a little girl up by her arm. My son said he didn’t like her and she was mean. Do not take your children here.
I really wish I could give zero stars. My children attended the Cedar Rapids location and at first it was good and then my daughter started having meltdowns and destructive behaviors. I reached out to aea in the area to receive help with her after receiving a sensory disorder and that’s where it went downhill. I was told by last employees that’s they kicked my children out because they didn’t want to deal with her behaviors among others. Then came a false letter that was written by the head person who runs this location. She falsified things that were said among other allegations. I would not put my children in this company for nothing. They do have good teachers but the turnover rate is horrible you never know if you’re going to get your child’s actual teacher or if it’s someone new.
