God bless those that don’t forget those in need! Continue to do what you do best LCDDP, taking care of those that are in need, those who are temporarily struggling, to those that need counseling. Just a side note: 30+ yrs ago you helped my husband and I, as university students, and we will never forgotten it. Glad to see that you are still helping the community out as a non-profit organization!
I would like to write this review about La Casa De Don Pedro. To begin, I would like to thank God because, without him, none of this would be possible. Regarding the La Casa weatherization program, it wasn't easy; in fact, it took almost two years from start to finish to complete this program, which includes a new boiler installation, new windows, and the insulation of my house. It started out great with completing my application with Joan; she was so sweet throughout the entire process and made me feel like family. Along with the weatherization program, we also applied for LIHEAP and USF to help with my extremely high energy bills, which took 4 months but helped a lot. Then I was supposed to get a callback about when to start the actual weatherization to help reduce energy bills and keep my home comfortable, but that call never came, even after multiple calls and emails. I felt like giving up, but God kept me so I wouldn't let go, so almost one month before a year into the process, I contacted the governor's office, senators, and the people who actually allocated the money into the program. It helped tremendously; literally a day after the governor's office called back and said they would have them call me, they did just that. They apologized and explained how overwhelmed they were with the number of applications they received during COVID-19 and how sometimes clients get lost in the process. I was still upset but grateful that they called. They told me to fill out some more paperwork and email it to them so they could restart the process, which they did. So they came out to evaluate the house and make sure there wasn't any mold or anything that would stop the process. Thankfully, there were none, so they approved my application, and it took a couple more months because other applicants were in front of me and it was the holiday season. The following year, they had to come back again to do an inspection and approve me again. They said my boiler had to be replaced, which they called a company to do, and it's beautiful. A special shout out to J.W. Pierson, who installed that wonderful boiler. Every plumber who sees it says it's such a beauty. Two months later, they sent another company to insulate the entire house, install a bathroom exhaust fan in my basement bathroom, and add weather stripping around my doors. A special shout out to Divine Energy Solutions, Inc.; they did a fantastic job. Finally, today, they sent another company to install eight brand new windows. A special shout out to Window Plus Home Improvement Products I must say that these windows are beautiful and seem very energy efficient. A job well done. I'm so thankful to God because he made this possible, and I would also like to thank the awesome team that made it all happen, Danny, Bradley, Joan, and Marisol, for being so kind throughout this long and exhausting process. Thank you once more to the team at La Casa De Don Pedro.
With the pandemic La Casa temporary closed its doors leaving all of their clients in limbo and without energy assistance for the past heating season. Many clients were seeking assistance from other operating agencies that were up and running during the pandemic and clients couldn't receive no assistance because their case file was locked thru la casa. La casa may be around for decades but they failed miserably during the pandemic and most of all they failed their community and their people.
