Don’t send your child to this school. I would show up and there would be a new teacher in the classroom with no notice. My friends daughter was kicked out of school because she had fake locs in her head - they have a no fake hair policy. Mama Maja regularly calls the cops on parents for minor disagreements. The leadership is in shambles and I’ve see her berate staff in front of parents. The school is bearable until you get on her bad side. Pluses about the school : fresh food, a focus on African heritage, and many of the teachers were nice.
My name is makye matthews, im currently in 9th Grade and ive been attending kuumba learning center for 4 years so far. kuumba has the best teaching ive ever seen, best food; vegan and made by kuumba freshly, wholesome environment and very Experienced teachers. ive learned alot about history and black / african history that if i didnt come here, i probably would have never known. ( this is my honest opinion )
I myself wouldn't recommend this school to anyone my son went to this school and was being bullied by another student he stood up for himself get suspended was told that he would be able to come back after they call us for him too return two weeks later never did, I took off work to go there to sign release forms so he can go to a public school in Montgomery County maryland and was told they will send the forms for his records over two weeks later never did now this a month he miss still not a sound from this school I see I have to take another day off and go to their hire education board because I pray the stalling is not for the fund's from the educational voucher to run out. Hmmm
Kuumba has shine so much light into my boys life my oldest never would interact with no one he has blossom incredibly he holds great conversation know, there are no words I can say besides I love this school not only for the great teaching but they teach so much more it’s really a family there (Village)If you don’t believe me take a tour while kids are there
A wholesome and loving environment. Both my toddler & teenager are flourishing!
