My first impression of the Englewood YMCA was not good. I asked if I could briefly walk the facility just to see what all it had to offer. Mind you I was dressed in a suit being as I just got off work. The older lady at the front desk told me I had to be accompanied by the gentleman in the weight room as if I were going to just start using all the equipment in a suit and tie. I get in there tell the gentleman what she said and he just looked at me a bit perplexed and did not understand why I needed him. Then I told him what she said we exchange a knowing look after that and he said just go checkout what you want. Fast forward, I have a Y membership and I primarily use it to play basketball. I have an entire home gym so I really don't need to use tread mills and weight machines. Every single time I come to the court to play basketball it is taken up by pickle ball, zoomba fitness and whatever other nonsense they have going on. They only have open gym for the basketball court for an hour or two in the morning and late at night. So the entire court is used for everything but basketball. On top of that it seems to be poorly maintained. The floors are always slippery with no grip making twisting ankles and ligaments a high chance as well as uneven flooring with dips. It seems to be the same way with the pool as well. Every single time I asked about it because I wanted to teach my children to swim they had something going on where I couldn't use it. They also seem to hound us when the time for open gym is about over. Yet they never hound the pickle ball players. Most likely because of the age difference and they assume that the elderly that play pickle ball will just respect the rules. However they don't always and sometimes 10-15 minutes after its suppose to be open gym and they still have the nets in the way of the court. Over all the YMCA isn't bad. Its a decent family oriented place. They have daycare options as well which I used once or twice only for my children to get lice. That was lovely. Basically this gym is just okay. You are better off getting a planet fitness membership for 15 bucks a month rather than paying more than double that to go to the YMCA. Especially if you are like me and just use it for the basketball court since its quite literally never open for actual basketball players. They should be able to fill a smaller room with pickle ball equipment and not have to take up the entire basketball court or maybe expand their gym with another court because it's quite ridiculous as a hooper to never be able to hoop.

Decent gym , very clean with lots of equipment. It's open 24 hours all days but Saturday and Sunday. The night staff are very nice . I'm bummed that I can't use my ymca pass at the Greenville location . They have restrictions.

Facility doesn’t enforce certain timeframes for open gym, for example I walk in today November 19th and pickle ball had the whole gym space when it was on the schedule to be cleaned up and over at 2 and then open gym starts. Not to mention if these were kids playing basketball or even a young adult like myself they would be giving us 10 min and 5 min warnings to clean up and leave immediately which isn’t fair because the pickleball players get no warnings like this to clean up and get out immediately the adverse discrimination towards the younger generation and using the open gym is terrible. Things like this mess everyone’s schedule up for instance today I have class at 3:30 and I figured I could play basketball for 45min to a hour and head to class, now I drove all the way here to see this… unacceptable because I make the drive to do what’s on the schedule for the day and it doesn’t work out because the front desk and employees don’t care. Unacceptable.

DO NOT PUT YOUR KIDS IN SPORTS HERE!! Was not satisfied with how last year ran but I gave them a pass it seemed like they were trying to put kids health into consideration because Aug last year was very hot. But starting late cause the kids to be playing during the snow or freezing temperatures. They added a game for the week following the “close” of the season. They have no regard for parents schedules. Season should be starting Saturday sept 5th. It’s been postponed to sept 13th. But some teams will have games Saturday the 5th. I have 2 kids and have no schedule for either kids team. How am I supposed to schedule life if they can’t get me a schedule and not make last minute changes?!? If the refs are as bad this year as last it’s going down. U4 games should last 30 mins max. One of our daughters last over an hour because the ref couldn’t keep track of time! Hire people who know how to use a stopwatch or tell time. I left the sports director a voicemail and I’ve still not gotten a call back. They do not prioritize timeliness. Practice schedules went out the week before they started. It’s no surprise the teams barely have 9 players each. Parents don’t want the bullcrap.

I love the aerobics classes in the heated therapy pool. The instructors, Debbie, Susie, and Lindy are great. The lifeguards, Renee, Jenny, and Mary Beth also do an excellent job. There is also a feeling of welcome when you come in and I would like to thank Annie and June for that. I go to the Y a few days a week and it has made a difference in my health and well-being.
