What Parents Say
Kearns Recreation Center receives mixed reviews. Multiple parents praise the childcare program for activities, field trips, staff friendliness, and ability to accommodate special needs. However, serious safety concerns about inadequate supervision in childcare have been raised by at least one parent whose child sustained multiple injuries.
Used to come here as a teen it was awesome it’s gone down hill. Too many rules. What happened to the color coordinated flags on the high dive? Now I have to sit behind a bunch of kids too scared to jump while at the bottom for a half hour without it mattering what level you’re jumping off. Waste of time flag method was better and less jumbled up. Sad to see a childhood place ruined.
Lots of activities offered and well maintained facility. Friendly and helpful staff. Brad Peercy does an excellent job of running the center.
I've been going here for years. Nothing super fancy. But it's affordable and the staff is nice. I love the workout equipment and the set up. The pool is fun. The swim instructors are outstanding.
CHILDCARE It has been a year and it still haunts me. I know the tuition is competitive, but don't do it. Teachers don't actually pay attention to the kids and are on their phones, which doesn't allow them to intervene situations early. My child was 2 when the last of 4 incidents within 1.5 months occurred. He needed 4 stitches right above his eye (apparently due to a toddler Lego, but nobody knows for sure because nobody was watching). He was covered in blood, it was dripping down his shirt. We were told to "just take him to get a few stitches". No sympathy, no genuine apology, no action plan to prevent this from happening again. Previously, he had another push him onto the gym floor (causing his lip to bleed and bruise), with no teacher stepping in at any point during the 15 second interaction they had because nobody was paying attention. There are no cameras here. There is no accountability. To see my 2yo child hurt this bad, and so many times, with zero accountability and no effort to improve (cameras or staff training)... it was heartbreaking and incredibly disappointing. The teacher turnover rate was crazy high. Sometimes you'll see high school kids watching the children. This was a mistake that I will regret for the rest of my life and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else's child.
Horrible soccer experience for my daughter! The coach doesn’t pay attention to any other kid other than her own! The parents go on the field and prevent my daughter from getting close to the ball since she is afraid to get hurt.
