Jerry R. Junkins Head Start Center

Please be careful, as some these folks are mean-spirited and uncaring about special needs kids. The Site Manager doesn't seem to care for the kiddos at all, especially special needs children. She and one of the "teachers" made my son's 2nd year at the center very difficult. His first year was a little rocky, because it was his first time in a classroom setting. His first year teacher worked with him and he adapted and loved it. He loved the teacher in the 2 yr old class and would always run to hug her. The 2nd school year at Jerry Junkins Head Start was pure hell for my child. I shared with the teacher that my son had a sensory issue and doesn't like to be barefoot. The "teacher" would take his socks & shoes off as a form of punishment. Although complaints were lodged with the corporate office, no real action was taken to ensure my child was safe and not subjected to psychological and emotional abuse at the hands of the "teacher." Eventually, we decided to remove him from the program, because he was truly unhappy and hated being left alone with that particular "teacher." That leaves me to wonder what other methods of torture were allowed to be used. As for the Site Manager, she made it her mission to ensure my child would not thrive in the program. It's no surprise that the people she manages follow her mean-spirited approach to kiddos that are not "normal". What you permit, you promote!!

Love this Head Start! The teachers are Amazing. Every staff member has always been so nice and accommodating in any need. Clean! My Grandsons both attended here and flourished in this environment. Love love love!

Today Friday the 8 th of June 2018 is the las day of my son Steven Benitez preschool year. I wanted to give a big thank you to his teachers and Josè who made this possible. My son loved school because of the whole family in jerry Jenkins head start , they made him a better student a smart one and what I loved the most is the manners that they teach I will never pass embarrassedment with my child any where thanks to this school. I love you guys ! We are moving to Hanby elementary now and I’m certain that he will have a great star because of his knowledge that he learned here at junkins. I would really recommend this school and sign up soon it’s a wonderful school you won’t regret it.👍😎

The staff here is very unprofessional, not greeting u when u walk in or ever introducing themselves. When told this place could help individuals with child care who couldnt afford it, I felt like this is going to be a blessing, however it was the complete opposite. After speaking with this woman named Stacy Bell I was told to fill out the application and that they needed 4's, my child was 3 at the time. So come back when he turned 4 which was this December. Only a couple months after our initial visit. After trying to say i didnt have all the paperwork which I did and showed her she continued with he couldnt get in till next year, which he will be in public pre-K then and she was now not going to be able to accept him, a complete waist of time, and after being lied too, i wouldnt recommend this racist facility to anyone.. very disappointing!!!

A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THE TEACHERS IN THIS SCHOOL ESPECIALLY MS. STACY......ITS ALL BECAUSE OF YOU, THAT MY DAUGHTER IS HERE TODAY HAPPY, ALWAYS READY AND WILLING TO GO TO SCHOOL. THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL YOU DO FOR THE KIDS.
