I trust the management of daycare center with my two babies, along with their teachers who are amazing as well. We started my daughter when she was just 6 months, twice a week. I saw progress after a week or so with her fine motor skills and so forth. Now she is 3 years old and she’s there full time. They do help them when they are a little older (1-2) do potty training, but you have to be consistent with it at home too. She loves seeing her friends and teachers. They’ve helped her through every milestone of her life and I am so thankful of all her teachers. My son has started there too, he was also 6 months and is there full time. They send us pictures occasionally too of my little ones playing. Love this daycare center, I am so happy to have them.
Jack and Jill II overall wasn't a terrible daycare choice for my child. MOST of the staff typically are kind, friendly & care about your kids. Normal issues came up throughout her 2 years there that didn't warrant her needing to be pulled, however how they were handled by Kim always was a concern. My daughter often came home from daycare having been bitten (3x in one week), scratched across the face (she still has a small scar over a year later), and hit with toys. While these are normal behaviors for toddlers, Kim lacks the accountability & leadership to provide the support to her staff members to adequately address them. Her solution after my daughter was bitten was to move the biter to another room. She didn't access any of the free state programs that come in and provide professional development to help her staff with his behaviors and he continued to go on to bite both her staff & other children. As a whole, Kim's ability to direct & lead is lackluster. When interacting with her face to face she is often void of affect, monotoned & looks like a deer caught in headlights. Her facility is outdated, there is wall to wall carpeting in every room, and one parent raised concerns about mold in the preschool area and was told they had it addressed. When asked for proof/a report that it was mold free (there is a strong mildew/mold smell in the stairwell), she was told that Kim's husband (who is also part owner) is a contractor and he was the one that checked. They could not provide proof and they were not willing to hire a mitigation company to come assess when asked. My daughter has been diagnosed with severe asthma & was following her sick plan frequently/needing her rescue inhaler frequently while at Jack and Jill. Since leaving, her new facility has not had to administer it once. The overall security of the building is a concern as well — codes don’t change. They are not individualized to your child and all doors within the infant & toddler area open directly into the classrooms. After touring other facilities when moving my daughter I realized how big of an issue that actually is. When my daughter entered the Toddler 3 room we began having significant issues with the staff in that room. Sharon & Leslie (sisters) are unfriendly, appear to sit all day, and seem to only like the kids they perceive as "good". They utilized inappropriate discipline with my child & 2 others for them "not listening" and Kim backed up the choices they made. When I addressed the issue, I was told that Sharon & Leslie were no longer "comfortable" with me, and they wanted to move my child back to the room she just graduated from for the remaining 4 months she had until she went into the preschool. Kim stressed that she "had to make sure everyone" was comfortable and tried to gaslight me by asking if I would have even been happy with her continuing to be in her room, wanting me to be the one asking to have her moved. She chose her staff's comfort over what was developmentally appropriate for a child. Sharon labeled my 2 year old "disruptive", felt comfortable telling me she "has never listened" to any of the other teachers, despite the other teachers telling me this was not true. Should you choose to enroll your child here, just be aware that not all of the teachers have the best interest of your child in mind and your concerns won't be adequately addressed. The question of mold throughout the building is a HUGE safety concern not only for your children but the staff members. My daughter has since transitioned to a new daycare and the "behaviors" that Sharon & Leslie appeared to struggle so much with have not been present. Her new teachers & director feel that her behavior/demeanor has been developmentally appropriate. Was it her behavior or their rigidity, general laziness, and inappropriate approach to working with 2-year-olds?
I can't say enough good things about this daycare. We were new to the area and first ended up at another, larger center where we did not know the teachers names and our child was shuffled around from room to room. We decided to tour a few other centers and when we found this place, it was exactly what we were looking for. Our daughter started in the two-year-old area where she received consistent and personalized attention. After turning three, she moved up to the preschool rooms and met another group of caring teachers. This daycare is all about the children and not about fancy apps and show. The hours are convenient for a range of a work schedules, the staff and administration are approachable and helpful, the facilities are clean, and most importantly, the children are well cared for. I highly recommend this center if you want a friendly, local owner-operated daycare center for your child (ages 6 weeks to 6 years) where they will not get lost in the mix and where the director will know them by name.
