What Parents Say
Ivey Ranch Park Day Care is an equine-focused center in Oceanside with mostly positive reviews praising the horse program and friendly staff. However, some parents report concerns about billing practices, staff conduct, and the facility's approach to children with special needs or fears.
I signed up for my daughter to take riding lessons there when she was 3 years old because they said it's a year long wait list. I thought that would work out well timing wise. What they did not tell me was it was a year long waitlist JUST FOR THE EVALUATION. After that, it's another long waitlist to get a lesson time. So much that I got an email from the admissions coordinator stating "use your money from regional Center for something else, because it will be awhile before she has lessons." It was a little deceitful. The evaluation went horrible as my daughter has a fear of horses. They offered a horse preparedness class that was six weeks long and said if she couldn't overcome her fear by then, she would be deemed "not appropriate" for lessons. The one time we were there I found them to be strict and not involving the parents very well. Thank goodness I found a place that's more friendly towards autistic kids and allowing them to go at their own pace. I would highly recommend not going to this place, but I doubt it will make a difference. There is such a need for therapeutic horseback riding in this area and they have so many people on their waitlist, for them any student is disposable.
Not a public park.. It smells like a dung heap . Tried to take my dog for a walk and was told by someone who lives there that its all private property and to leave. No signs posted that says this..Make them happy and stay away.. There are plenty of places to learn how to ride a horse that does not have a problem with locals...
They have a really nice equine program. They do not allow you to pay weekly, which is annoying. I also have been charged for more than 1 month at a time, which makes around 280 bucks all in one go which hurts the budgeting a lot, seeing as I only lake 500 a paycheck. But other than that, heir great.
Everything is great with the horses but the coordinator is racist. I make one mistake and she yells at me and i felt like she basically kicked me out of the ranch. its probably because I'm Mexican and everyone else there is white.
My daughter loves riding and caring for the horses here. The staff is quite friendly.
