Island Kids Child Care Center

Our daughter has attended Island Kids for the last three years. Over the course of the last 6 months, the quality of care, organization and focus on the safety/well-being of children has declined significantly culminating with staff not knowing where our daughter was today during pick up. There was no accountability for this completely unacceptable safety issue and the owner’s lack of empathy and concern was deplorable as she attempted to blame the oversight on one of her employees. As parents and educators, my wife and I know this should NEVER happen to anyone’s child. Do yourself a favor and find an institution that puts the safety and supervision of children first because I assure you, Island Kids does not.

My child attended Island Kids South for just over a year. While many of the staff members were kind and engaging, I ultimately made the decision to leave due to serious concerns about my child’s safety and the overall quality of care. The final straw came in early June, when my child was left unattended inside the facility. I wasn’t notified at pickup — instead, I received a call nearly 30 minutes later explaining what had happened and what changes they claimed were being made. I was told different versions of the story, and to this day, I still don’t know how long he was left alone. Despite the daycare advertising that they have cameras, there was conveniently no footage available from the incident. This was incredibly concerning, especially since I was paying a premium with the expectation that my child would be safe, accounted for, and that communication would be transparent. The center also uses an app for real-time updates, but it was rarely updated during the day. Basic updates like meals, naps, and photos were often added at the very end of the day — or even the next day — making it difficult to feel connected or informed about my child’s day. This experience was incredibly disappointing. I hope my review encourages other parents to ask detailed questions and helps the daycare reflect on its protocols moving forward.

I can’t speak highly enough about Island kids! I was nervous to put my twins into a daycare center since they were preemies and have only ever stayed home with me, but I know we truly made the right choice enrolling them into Island kids Child Care Center ! The center is well organized, very clean, and their curriculum is amazing across all age groups. We love that they offer educational play in all of the classrooms, include outdoor play for gross/motor development, and that their staff takes the time to build personal relationships with each child and family. The teachers at Island Kids have been nothing but amazing with our twins and we love that they look forward to going to daycare everyday! Before my twins started daycare they weren’t able to connect sentences quite yet, were not very social, and had a hard time in new environments. Their personalities and vocabulary has expanded so much because of their amazing curriculum! Now they are talking in full sentences, singing, know their colors,shapes, alphabet, they are very social now and we can really tell how comfortable they are at the center and with their teachers in general. I also really love that they use an app where parents at all times know where their child is, who they are with, and what they are doing! It’s so reassuring that they send constant photos/videos, write little updates about how their day is going, log their meals and nap times, etc! I highly recommend this daycare center!

My child goes to the South location currently and has been there for a little less than a year. He started off in the infant room and has just transitioned to the next room up . Our first impression of the daycare was what sold us. Miss Adrianne took us on a tour and was very thorough with all the information we needed to make our decision . They keep it very clean and I’ve seen them multiple occasions deep cleaning rooms top to bottom. As a first time parent , it can be tough sending your little one to daycare but the staff made it so easy for our family. My family is at ease when our child is at Island Kids because he is in great hands.

The people who work here generally WANT to be here. Not many places can say that. My family has had care through Island kids for 4 years now and I would never take them anywhere else. The teachers are always happy, smiling and will go out of their way to have a conversation. The communication is excellent and sometimes I think my kids prefer them over us haha! When you walk in the classroom and your child runs to the teacher and they hug, you feel comfortable driving away. It speaks volumes to have a piece of mind that the kids are not only safe, but generally having fun playing, making crafts, doing yoga, exploring, learning etc while you’re at work.
