We were visiting from the east cost on a tour. We were impressed by the charm of the church and the solemnity of the Mass. The Credo and Confiteor were sang in Latin. It was an uplifting experience. God Bless.
We are out on the road and made it a point to find a town with a Catholic Mass when we are stopped on a Sunday. The Church was very welcoming and at filled by the time mass started. We would definitely go again. I recommend this to anyone looking for a church to attend Mass.
The Diocese of Gallup is the poorest in the US, whose faithful have much less in material goods, and even the bare necessities, than the numerous traveling Catholics passing through. Fr. Tom Maikowski is an older priest with obvious health challenges -- and just as obvious sanctity -- so he did not administer the Eucharist at the Vigil Mass this evening. One of the religious sisters here was the extraordinary minister of the Sacrament. The sisters lead the Holy Rosary before Mass. If you're a Latin Mass Catholic, there's no opportunity (March 2024) to receive on the tongue from the priest. Just know this ahead of time and pray for the priest, parish and parishioners.
We are traveling and always look forward to and seek Catholic churches to renew our faith and fulfill our obligations. Sadly this Parish still requires useless masks to participate in Mass, to receive the Blessed Sacrament or to simply enter. It's now May 2022! Even the CDC now publicly admits that MASKS do nothing to prevent the spread of any disease including Covid. Blocking entry to Mass attendance surely brings much pain to our Lord and Savior.
Good Mass. More traditional like it's supposed to be.
