Our daughter has been attending IJAK since she was 3 months old and she has been thriving since then. She soars through her milestones with the consistent encouragement at school. Ms. Rachel was the absolute best first teacher she could have had and I credit my daughters early success to her along with Ms. Vicki and Ms. Ana. They are always available to talk when I have questions and that is so appreciated as a first time mom. There were no other places we toured that offered that kind of communication with the owner and director and that made it an easy decision for us to choose IJAK.
Our child has been here since the age of 9 months and will be 2 years old in a couple months. Every teacher our child has been with has shown nothing but true love and care and it shows to be true based off how much our child loves her teachers. We’ve seen her thrive and grow so much and surprising us every day after school. Whenever issues did come up, nothing too major, the staff was quick to address it and correct it on their end. I’m just a kid made it so much easier to trust our child being at school while we work and knowing she is being well taken care of. I love how extra they go for the kids such as holiday parties and more for the families to be included and involved. Great memories.
My son attended IJAK for a year and I wanted to share our personal experience with the daycare. Pros: Holiday events, monthly newsletter with instructional focus, flexible hours Cons: - There are no cameras - They do not send updates on how your child is doing throughout the day (not even end of day paper updates or report cards) - Teachers are encouraged not to share how your child’s day “really” went - There isn’t any kind of security at the drop off gate when dropping children off or picking them up which is very scary/concerning. Just the owner’s husband walking around - Sometimes we’d pick our son up and he’d be in a different classroom with teachers we’ve never seen and older kids in there as well - We would often pick him up and his clothes were filthy - We used to receive artwork and evidence of learning, but it all suddenly stopped Last, a big piece of advice would be to make sure any communication to/from the owner/manager is in writing.
I’m just a kid is not a daycare it’s a school and with that being said this facility has helped my daughter with expressing her emotions, potty training and being able to verbally communicate. I love the curriculum and how it’s very in depth informative. She started when she was 17m old and she is now turning 3 next month and everyone says how smart she is. I love this school and the teachers especially Ms. Leah she does a great job engaging with the children and teaching the curriculum.
My toddler started at IJAK in November. The owner, Vicki, was thrilled to answer all my questions during orientation. I was nervous my baby would not want to stay at IJAK since he was used to his previous daycare. However, I was so happy to start to see his excitement every time we pulled up to the school. I am especially thankful for the cooperation I have gotten from the director, Ana, with my toddlers diet. I have some limitations on what he consumes and whenever I bring something up about his food, Ana listens and brainstorms with me. I have also noticed his speech develop. I am amazed at how many new words he has, what seems like, every week. Then we started my infant and again I had mom guilt for leaving her with anyone else but me or her dad. Ms. Rachel picked up on my nervousness and assured me of her lengthy experience with infants. Now, my infant smiles when she sees Ms. Rachel in the mornings. Ms. Rachel listens to my concerns and cooperates with my wishes for my baby. It is a sad reality that turnover rates at daycares are not great. However, I do see that Vicki does her best to run the logistics so that the kids are not impacted by this. Overall, I believe I’m Just a Kid is a school I trust to leave my babies in and am excited for their continued growth.
