What Parents Say
Round Valley State Preschool is highly regarded for its small class sizes and strong teacher-student ratios that provide individualized attention. Parents praise the dedicated staff, quality meals, and welcoming environment. However, chronic bus service issues affect zoned students, and special education resources are limited.
I do love this school. When we moved to the area, we were homeschooling our oldest, but I heard great things about the school. So the following year we enrolled her into RVES. We thought we might be leaving the area and I was bummed thinking that we wouldn't be able to keep them in the school, but we didn't. Now our youngest is a Bobcat as well. The staff and teachers are great. I really, truly like this school.
Absolutely the best school ever! My attended school there for a short period of time & he didn't want to leave. He thoroughly enjoyed it. The main thing I liked about it was it's a small school so he had more 1 on 1 time with the teacher if needed! Excellent school, wish we had one like this back in GA!
Round Valley Joint Elementary School (RVJES), or just RV school, is a K-8 school (+ pre-k) that observes a traditional school year (off in summer months). The RV Joint Elementary School District (RVJESD) consists on one school RV school. The principal is also the superintendent, among other things. This school is known for its low teacher-student ratios, making it a coveted place to send kids. Great staff, good meals for the kids, cooked on-site, and the teacher-student ratio that is typically found only in private schools. My son attended from 5th-8th grade. Each grade typically has 1 (one) class...awesome. The 6-8th grades (junior high) still have multiple teachers and subjects, but all the students in that grade go to the same classes at the same time. In my sons 5th grade year there was 12 or so students in his class. For 8th grade it was down to eight (yes- the entire 8th grade student body was 8 kids- eight 8th graders in the entire school). The entire student body (including pre-k) is usually 130-140 students. Like I said, people really want their kids to go to this school. On a different note, this school is not perfect. My son is autistic, but high-functioning. Sadly there aren't better resources for kids that have higher needs. The so-called resource teacher is now the principal and that leaves a huge gap for others. Fight for your child if you need to. The other MAJOR problem is the bus service. One driver seems to always take time off (for an ailing mother they say). This driver is also the school cook. While I understand, and have empathy for this person, it does not serve the community well. This has been going on for at least SEVEN YEARS!! We first experienced this when my son entered the school in 5th grade, and continues with my grandchild. The students that are zoned for this school are typically the ones that get the phone call the night before, sometimes the morning of, and often midday, the call that says there will be no bus service. I can't imagine what it must be like for a single working parent to have to get to work late, leave early, etc. due to lack of a school bus for young child zoned in this school district. I mention zoned because there is another bus that picks up students NOT zoned. They are interdistrict transfers...that get better bus service. I'm not talking a few days a year. Im talking we quit counting at 22 days and never bothered to count again. Sorry for the rant. Great school overall. Just be prepared to advocate for a child that has any type of challenge, and don't rely on a reliable bus service.
I go to round valley and I am an 8th grader. It is a good school if you like to get a lot of individual attention. I really liked the school.
I am a student at the school. I love it there!
