I’ve been wanting to get my son into this headstart for almost a year now. I turned everything in that was needed. I call every other day to get updates and have been told for the last couple months they don’t have any teachers for the three year old classes. My son will be four this coming January and I had him enrolled in an educational center but paying $255 a week was very expensive. Hoping I can get him in sooner than later because this mom guilt I am having is killing me insfe. My son needs to be part of an educational program that won’t kill his parents pockets. I’m in tears typing this. Hopefully head start will get it together and hopefully they’re not lying about not having teachers because that doesn’t make any sense to me.

So first off wanna say the process is horrible an so long. Secondly they don't tell you that even tho you submit everything that doesn't matter they rate you an give you POINTS that base off weather or not your child can attend or not. I am glad my son didn't get accepted here sounds like snotty people an they would have unrealistic expectations for a child! AVOID THIS PLACE!

Everyone here is absolutely amazing and caring. The resources they provide are so helpful. My daughter learned so much while she was here and now my son attends. Everyone in the building is the sweetest. They remember all their kids and love to watch them grow.

The worst bus system and school ever my daughter bus doesn’t even show up some days and then when I call the office they are nonchalant. I’m honestly starting to feel like black women shouldn’t be in certain positions their attitudes are whatever and nasty and they don’t care. As a black mother I can honestly say I’ve had the worst experience with other black women especially at this school

I am hoping my daughter can get admitted soon & then I will update. My rating is solely based on the service I’ve received thus far. I submitted an application to enroll my 4yo in September. It took 3 weeks of calling almost every day to receive an update on my application status since no one reached out. Then the update was “we just sent your application to so & so to assign a person to you, they should contact you within a week”. Week came & went I was never contacted. Then I had to call again to be emailed further documentation to fill out & a list of documents to send in as well, which I submitted all by next morning. Another week and I had to call AGAIN to be told they just sent the documents to whomever & I’ll be contacted when there’s an opening. They couldn’t give me a timeframe of how long I’d be waiting or anything but said I can have a family advocate reach out on my behalf to get that information. How does that make any sense when I’m the parent? I had an advocate reach out about two weeks ago…she hasn’t heard back from them yet. I’ve been going through this “enrollment process” since SEPTEMBER. It’s almost December & I only get a response or anything when I put in the work to reach out. Insane. Unorganized & not very professional in my opinion. UPDATE: as of March 2022 I have only been contacted ONCE and that was to renew my information in the system etc. at this point, I am just having my daughter go back to daycare and once fall comes I can enroll her in public schooling. If you’re looking into HEADSTART I suggest looking in February/March of the YEAR PRIOR because….you WILL be waiting. The service is truly lacking.
