I'm very happy to say I had a wonderful experience with Francine who is a phlebotomist at Hines VA. After years of absolutely horrifying experiences and so many times just wanting to give up even going there at all I'm glad I was her patient because she restored my faith in the VA. I'm an extremely hard stick and she nailed it immediately on the first try without even the slightest pain. Thank you so much Francine you are the best phlebotomist I've met yet
Excellent medical care and treatment o veterans. Anything from medical to social services to housing can be addressed inside. Extremely clean facility that is always expanding. Transportation is provided free of charge. A most for any veteran. Expansive facility with many buildings that offer a variety of services to meet any veterans need.
I contracted a virus and was told to see a doctor because I'm struggling to breathe well. The doctor didn't seem to care and prescribed me some generic cough medicine that does little to nothing. It was rushed and she was just trying to get me out of there. All the patients in the emergency room waited an hour and a half before anyone got called to be checked out.
Place is a complete Joke, called Hematology 3 times and was placed on hold without saying anything and then they hung up on me. My doctor tried calling aswell and could not get a hold of them. This service they provide veterans is just terrible and unprofessional.
In all honesty, I’ve had nothing but great experiences and wonderful care from my healthcare team at this VA over the last 3 years. But I wanted to highlight today’s visit by saying that Lena Bailey from the laboratory went above and beyond for me. I had returned to the lab for the second time for additional blood work ordered after my primary care appointment that morning, and she saw me sitting in the waiting area again. She instantly recognized me, asked if there were any issues with the initial blood draw, pulled me back right away, and made sure to double check that those additional labs could be taken from the earlier ones. Lena carefully checked the new blood work orders and confirmed some questions with other staff, and I was able to walk away without another needle mark in my arm because she made sure to take the extra time and effort that many people might’ve not taken. I also had the pleasure of meeting with Lucy, a friendly and personable patient care staff member that was quick and efficient during my EKG. She was unburdened that I had shown up without an appointment, and she provided excellent, quality care that many sadly do not get the privilege of receiving. I’m very grateful for staff like Lena and Lucy who were able to brighten up my day during what would’ve been a stressful and long day at the VA hospital. They truly care about their work and how it impacts every individual veteran seeking answers in a sea of questions. Many, many thanks!
