Hewlett-East Rockaway J.C. Nursery School

After being a part of the Hewlett East Rockaway Nursery School for almost a year - I must say that I am thoroughly impressed with the level of care, dedication, and attention given to the children and families in the community. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the warm and welcoming atmosphere of the school and shul. One of the things that stood out to me was how much the school prioritizes the children. This is demonstrated in their actions, such as creating a pray ground so that families with children can participate in services. The Rabbi and his wife are also very kind and make an effort to connect with each family. Their Friday night service with music and singing was beautiful and inclusive. The director of the school, Cheryl, is truly an exceptional individual. She is the most devoted, loving, and hardest working person I have ever encountered. She is always available to answer any questions and treats each parent with the utmost respect. Her dedication is evident in the amazing events she creates for families to partake in, and she is there from early mornings to late nights ensuring that everything runs smoothly. Safety is taken very seriously at the school, and they even have a security guard present at all events. Cheryl is also very hands-on with the children, knowing each one individually, and hosting the most creative events. The staff at Herjc are all respectful and greet you with a big smile. The positivity in the environment is palpable, and it is clear that they work hard to ensure the kids get a well-rounded education. Overall, I am very happy to be a part of this community and hope to grow more in it. If you are looking for a nursery school that is welcoming, loving, and friendly, with a strong emphasis on children's education and safety, I highly recommend the Hewlett East Rockaway Nursery School. It is truly a five-star institution that exceeds all expectations.

I am sharing this message because it came to my recent attention that the synagogue blocked me on their social media Facebook page due to not accepting the truth in a poor error of judgement. Four days after Hamas killed and kidnapped hundreds of Israelis and other non Israelis on the eve of Simchat Torah, HERJC felt the need to promote and market their new ST event of unraveling the Torah. There was no mention of being in solidarity with Jewish people and Israel which is now one the worst days in Jewish history. They cared more About their image and PR instead of doing the right thing to maybe tweak the post a bit. It wouldn't take much to say, "Despite the awful attacks on our people, we carry on." Or something to that effect. But instead they decided to censor free speech when someone pointed out about being more self aware to October 7, 2023. But they care more about their image and marketing then doing the right thing. This is not going to bring in members and students which has still been going down . This just shows congregants, former congregants and incoming congregants they care about themselves and not really About their members. And they definitely care more about marketing as they hired a professional photographer on the chag to promote Simchat Torah. A photographer at a conservative synagogue is generally not done on a holiday. Also hypocritical You have a sign outside the main sanctuary "no phones or camera use during services" However, the hypocritical officers who rarely show up for Shabbat services, decide it's okay to hire a professional photographer for holiday events during a service. How about the officers step down for showing hypocrisy and lack of authenticity to the sanctity of services?

Easy to go to. They abide by all the rules and you take as little or a much as your spiritual needs require. There's no rebuke or funny looks if you don't do as someone else does.

Nice synagogue with a friendly crowd but it’s more of a family synagogue than a singles synagogue.

Amazing venue! Saffron puts out an incredible party every time!
