What Parents Say
HELP NEW MEXICO - DEMING is a assistance program (not a daycare) that provides emergency financial aid for rent and utilities. While many reviewers praise staff helpfulness and successful assistance with rent and bill payments, several report serious issues with phone accessibility, unresponsive communication, and perceived discriminatory denial of services to low-income applicants.
My mean landlord tried to make me leave my home cause I had to leave work on maternity leave and didn’t have enough money for rent. HELPNM helped me pay it so I could stay! They are soooo good!
They were so nice. After speaking with the lady about my problem. She was very efficient and helpful. I was extremely satisfied with this experience.🙏
Horrible service just waiting on hold listening to their awful music and they just hang up on you!! Take your website down if you don’t want to help!
During covid, I was able to get up to 530.00 paid on my electricity, I called, made an appointment, came in with documents, and spoke to a then employee who was kind and talked me through everything letting me know my entire bill would be covered. I couldn't believe it. God bless
Don't go to them for help if you can not work due to disability, or on a fixed income struggling with surviving to stay out of a position of being homeless. I feel they 100% discriminated against me because I'm at poverty level. Last year I asked for help with my extremely high light bill. Jumped through the hoops, sending in documents, emailing for days, leaving voicemails with no response or updates for quite awhile. Going in when I was finally asked only to tell me they weren't going to help because they can't guarantee I won't ask for help in the future, to which I replied, I could have all the money today but that doesn't guarantee I won't need help in a few months because I lost it all either. So all that time past and I was under the impression they would help with something, well my family and I ended up with no electricity all winter, no heater no refrigerator and I have kids 10 and under. Well fast forward to the present. I was finally able to get a call back and right of the bat they made me feel like I was an inconvenience. After she got my information she went to talk to the guy from last year and came back with I'm not a candidate because my son wasn't working (due to back injury). But doesn't that sound like a household that includes small children would be a candidate? I mean the mission statement talks about their goal is to help struggling families to avoid homelessness, hunger. Discrimination of someone who unfortunately does need help probably twice but is on poverty level is a thing. Common sense shows if I was working chances are I wouldn't need the help so Discrimination against income. They mess with your mind dragging you along making you hopeful, only to knock you down. All that time wasted
